What you’ll be doing
As a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering graduate, you’ll be joining one of the following teams:
OLE Systems (Swindon) – our overhead line equipment team is predominately made up of mechanical engineers that provide design solutions for the structural and mechanical aspects of 25Kv AC Railway Electrification. They have capability from first principle system design through to volume output allocation design, including site design and installation support.
M&E Systems (Birmingham, Croydon, London) – here our team are mainly electrical engineers with a small number of mechanical/public health specialists. Their focus is low voltage rail infrastructure related power supply design to support railway signalling, stations and points heating installations with some lighting capability.
Rail Technology Consultancy (Plymouth) – our Rail Technology Consultancy provides engineering and management expertise to operators, maintainers, manufactures and regulators of signalling and telecommunication systems typically on mass transit systems both in the UK and internationally. The team are at the forefront of emerging digital technology such as providing technical advice of driverless fully automated metro systems using Communication Based Train Control systems and digital engineering management systems. This team would be flexible with considering graduates from electrical and/or electronic engineering, cyber security, communications and telecommunications engineering degree disciplines.
You’ll:
- Develop your skills working on a variety of rail and highways projects, providing technical solutions
- Become familiar with infrastructure terms and processes, across a wide range of disciplines
- Prepare and check project designs, drawings, assessment calculations, reports and contract documents
- Become a trusted adviser to our clients, working collaboratively with suppliers, contractors, the public and multidisciplinary teams.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll be a talented graduate with a bachelor’s (2.1 or above) or masters (2.2 or above) degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Power Systems Engineering.
We also require:
- Drive and determination to achieve Chartered Status
- Confidence working on your own initiative and as part of multidisciplinary teams
- A good communicator who can analyse problems, create innovative solutions and manage your time effectively
- A flexible approach to travel as our projects and training may take you to a variety of locations in the UK and possibly abroad
- Prepared to undergo a medical assessment, as some roles may involve working out on site
