Role Purpose:

The Utilities Engineer plays a pivotal role within the engineering directorate and marina precinct delivery team, responsible for facilitating utilities engineering development by design consultants.

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate health, safety, and welfare behaviours as advocated by NEOM.
  • Facilitate safety in design and sustainable design by consultants, adhering to NEOM procedures.
  • Assist project managers in consultant management.
  • Collaborate with interface managers and stakeholder managers.
  • Aid in preparing scopes of utilities design services for Requests for Proposals.
  • Assist in tendering processes (consultancies; design/build contracts; others).
  • Review service order proposals from consultants.
  • Assist design managers in managing the technical delivery of utilities design services by design consultants.
  • Aid design managers in managing the utilities design review process.
  • Contribute to overall progress reporting vs. programme of consultants’ services.
  • Contribute to overall reporting on cost vs. contract value of consultants’ services.
  • Assist in monitoring utilities design schedules of consultants.
  • Implement assigned risk mitigation actions.

Background, Skills & Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in building services design or utilities design within consultancy and/or contracting roles.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a building services / utilities engineer or related discipline in preliminary and final design development (i.e., plans and specifications) for building projects.
  • Experience in working with BIM modellers for utility systems.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Effective technical communication (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of design process for preliminary and detailed design.
  • Knowledge of the model development process for LOD 100, LOD 200, and LOD 300.
  • Knowledge of the specification writing process.
  • Time management for multiple tasks with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to tailor work effort to the time allocated to a task.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in engineering from a certified educational program.
