Linxon commissions 400 kV AIS substation for Tata Power solar plant
With the thrust on clean energy and environment-friendly initiatives, state of Rajasthan in India has emerged as a major hub of solar power generation. Blessed with abundant sunshine for most parts of the year, the place is ideal for putting up solar power plants.
The Ministry of Renewable Energy made a central public sector undertaking (CPSU) program under which the governmental producers are to get four years to set up 12 GW of solar power projects across the country.
Under this program National Thermal Power Corporation of India was entrusted the task of putting two 300 MW solar plants called CPSU-I & CPSU-II at village Nokhra at Rajasthan in 2020. The project is to be built up with domestic cells and modules under “Domestic content requirement (DCR) project”. In India DCR category projects were introduced to provide a guaranteed market for local solar component manufacturers.
Tata Solar Power was given the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract for these two plants and the substations packages were awarded to Linxon in India in November 2020.
Linxon’s scope work included six 400 kV AIS bays each at CPSU-I & II.
