Tell us a little bit about your professional background?

I am a senior resident engineer with more than 17 years’ experience in managing and supervising a wide range of large-scale projects including high rise buildings, mixed-use developments and school buildings. I graduated from Beirut Arab University in June 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. In June 2006, I graduated from The American University of Beirut with a master’s degree in engineering management.

What inspired you to become an engineer?

I chose to major in civil engineering because of my passion for supporting sustainable projects, bringing them from an initial vison into reality. However, after starting my engineering career, I developed a profound interest in managing projects, leading them from inception to operation through effective implementation of project management tools.

What is the coolest thing you are working on?

I am currently leading a team of 20 talented engineers to ensure successful handing over of Dubai Wasl 1, an iconic project located in the heart of Dubai, comprised of two towers connected by a link bridge at the upper five floors. The towers are shaped as the number “1” at all elevations to represents the city's vision.

What do you think has had the biggest impact on your career development to date?

My appointment to lead Dubai Creek Residences within Dubai Creek Harbour development was a turning point in my career. It gave me the opportunity to showcase my capabilities and play a key role in building relationships with Emaar properties by providing timely, effective services. This resulted in multiple project awards with the same client within the same development.

What is the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

My father used to say, “Don’t ever stop learning and growing as a person.” At an early age I couldn’t understand the real meaning of his words, as my priority was to finish my education as soon as possible to be able to start my professional career. With time, I realized that knowledge knows no boundaries and continuous learning is the key to success.

What is your favorite quote and why?

My favorite quote is: “Don’t tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon.” This quote confirms that there are no limits, anything is possible, and you can achieve anything if you really want to.

Tell us one fun fact about yourself.

As a kid I enjoyed watching cartoons. I still enjoy watching them today with my kid, although I pretend to not be very interested.
