Assistant Project Manager - Rail Infrastructure

We are seeking a bright and ambitious individual to join the Infrastructure Projects Team as an Assistant Project Manager.  SNC-Lavalin Atkins has secured multiple station and depot design packages with Train Operating Companies, as well as varied consultancy packages with infrastructure maintainers and we are now expanding our team to deliver these packages of work and are actively pursuing further works.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned 

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure Projects, your key function will be managing projects on an individual level, along with providing Project and Construction Management support to Principal and other Senior Project Managers.

Due to the diversity of the business, projects will be varied in size and nature, ranging from relatively small single source projects to large-scale multi discipline work banks.

The type of individual that we are looking to employ would need to be outgoing, proactive, show initiative and attention to detail.

Key Project Management duties associated with this role include:

  • Day to day liaison internally and with clients
  • Project progress reporting
  • Cost control
  • Change management
  • Meeting attendance
  • Supporting design co-ordination
  • Risk management
  • Supply Chain management
  • Bid and Tender support
  • Document control (where appropriate)
  • Ensure work is undertaken effectively and productively
  • Work closely with team leaders, section head, the commercial team and others within the business to support both Infrastructure and broader business objectives

Required Experience and Skills

This role requires a minimum of two years work experience and we are looking for someone with a passion to work in the Rail industry and/or in a career as a Project Manager. It is expected you will be qualified to a degree standard or equivalent. You will be comfortable with a variety of IT software packages and communicate exceptionally well both verbally and in written form. You will have good team working skills with the ability to develop working relationships quickly and effectively and have the desire to develop existing skills and acquire new technical competencies to enhance personal and team capability.
