Role Overview

The role is for BIM Group Manager for Bangalore.

BIM Group Manager has both management and technical responsibilities on projects. Establish and set clear directions on the modelling guidelines, collaboration procedures and BIM execution plans of projects and drive the BIM delivery for both Property and Infrastructure related projects across UK, Middle East and North America and Canada projects. Should have extensive experience across both Autodesk and Bentley platforms and tools with knowledge to integrate both platforms. Provide technical guidance for setting up and execution of projects to required BIM standards and methodologies using latest CDEs and collaboration platforms. Responsible for providing leadership to and monitoring the BIM skill building within the team.

 

To provide effective BIM leadership and direction to a project team in Bangalore and to provide operational support to BIM management this role involves, but not limited to:

 

a)    Technical Responsibilities:

a.     Leadership on BIM projects

b.     Expertise on digital design delivery standards methods and procedures like BSI standards BS1192, PAS 1192-2 and digital technologies for information management and automation.

c.     Expertise on both Bentley technologies like, Projectwise, AECOsim, BRCM, OpenRoad, Hevacomp, Microstation, Navigator and LumenRT as well as  Autodesk technologies BIM 360 Team, Collaboration for Revit (C4R), Revit, Dynamo, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks and Stingray.

d.     Involvement with industry/BIM organizations

e.     Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use, training and assist project team on the implementation of BIM soft wares

 

b)    Management Responsibilities:

a.     Managing Risks, budgets, Programme, Scope and Changes in projects

b.     Manage productivity and staff utilization of team by winning new BIM work

c.     Mentor and provide BIM leadership to further enhance and update the BIM capabilities within the team

 




 

The following is not the comprehensive list of responsibilities but serve as indication of type of duties that will be expected.

 

 

a)      BIM Leadership on Projects:

1.     Provide BIM leadership on Property and Infrastructure projects with respect to setting up the project on standard digital design delivery methods and procedures like BSI standards BS1192, PAS 1192-2 for information management and automation.

2.     Continuously following standard BIM delivery protocols for coordination and design validation and signing off  the BIM quality of models during final submission.

3.     Create and manage content libraries for families/components for reuse in projects

4.     Help resolve BIM related issues and trouble shoot whenever necessary

5.     Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team

6.     Coordinate needed hardware upgrades with IT

7.     Communicate with subcontractors to receive, coordinate and update all electronic Models

8.     Linking BIM to the project Construction Administration Phase for submittals, construction models, shop drawings and schedules (4D to 7D BIM)

 

9.      BIM Standards:

1.     Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement.

2.     Creation and maintenance of the software Template files to assure standards

3.     Automate routines in BIM to support too increase efficiency, using programming in Dynamo or other software like C#, C++ etc

4.     Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow process

standards

5.     Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of the BIM Project Leads to ensure BIM standards are maintained in the creation of project BIM models

 

10.   BIM Software/Hardware Support

1.     Provide software/hardware and network support as it relates to BIM production

2.     Liaison with IT and technology support staff for procurement of software/hardware and troubleshooting problems.

3.     Advise on the procurement of necessary BIM platform and software to support the company long term BIM objectives

 

11.   BIM skill building

1.     Ensure that staff are undergoing skill building through suitable trainings and keep BIM competency matrices updated for all staff in a given discipline.

2.     Test recruitment candidates in BIM skills and ensure that right candidates are hired for a given BIM position.

3.     Provide technical orientation to New Hires regarding BIM tools.

4.     Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use, training and assist project team on the implementation of BIM software

5.     Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM; bringing back learning and disseminating the information to appropriate teams

 

 

12.   Involvement with Group/Industry/BIM Organizations:

 

1.      Knowledge Communites internally in Atkins

2.      Autodesk University      

3.      Local User Groups

4.      Local colleges and universities for future resources

 

13.   BIM Leadership for Winning Work

 

1.     Continuously engage with clients to secure new BIM work for keeping team engaged

2.     Work closely with Clients to develop Employer’s Information Requirements.

3.     Prepare bid proposals and estimates for securing new work

4.     Create pre-contract BEP in response to Employer’s Information Requirements.

5.     Strategize for new service lines for growing the BIM business

 

14.   Software expertise required in

 

1.     Autodesk products and tools- Revit, Civil 3D, Infraworks

2.     Bentley products and tools- MicroStation 3D, Aecosim, MicroStation Inroads, Sue

3.     Coordination tools like Solibiri and Navisworks

4.     BIM 360, C4R, ProjectWise, Revit server with Clarity and latest collaboration platforms

 

 

Operational Responsibilities

15.   Productivity and staff utilization through continuous pipeline of work

 

a.     Ensure that there is continuous pipeline of BIM opportunities by engaging with Clients on new bids and providing proposals and estimates for new work.

b.     Ensure that all staff are allocated on productive projects

c.     Track productivity reports sent by Project Control Team to keep productivity levels controlled for BIM team

Key Performance Indicators

a)    Increase in BIM volume of work for the business

b)    BIM projects are executed with high feedback ratings from Clients

c)     Minimum BIM quality related issues are highlighted by clients.

d)    Minimum BIM software/hardware related issues are highlighted by Project Design or Team leads.

e)    BIM team establishes new skills in tools and processes to respond to new opportunities

f)      Ensuring that all staff are completely productive on projects

g)    Attrition kept within minimum levels.
