Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Austin, TX Civil Group as a Civil CAD Technician II (Land Development).

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under supervision, provides competency in computer-assisted drafting to support the technical services of the company.

JOB DUTIES

Uses CAD system to enter the required data, such as precise measurements and commands, in order to generate construction drawings, renderings, report graphics and other digital images.
Prepares layouts, drawings and designs from detailed sketches and/or drawings made by technicians, designers or technical professionals, converting paper documents into computerized files.
Uses CAD to redesign, modify, or otherwise edit existing design.
Makes minor mathematical calculations.
Checks final drawing to verify completeness, clarity and accuracy of drawing.
Operates plotter to transfer developed drawings to an appropriate medium.
Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma (or equivalent) plus six years related experience OR an Associates Degree in a related technical field plus four years related experience is require

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

With input and direction from the project engineer and/or senior CAD Designer, must be able to use Civil 3D software help produce plan and profile sheets for streets, roadways, waterlines, sewer lines, storm drains and related facilities.
Must also be able to use Civil 3D to help produce site grading plans, parking lot plans, and retention/detention facilities.
Understanding of applicable local design standards, details and specifications a plus.
Experience with Civil 3D pipe networks and/or corridors a plus.
Experience working with school districts, architects and/or municipalities a plus.
