Market context:

With the UK power market expected to experience growth in the coming years, we focus on growing our rapidly increasing transmission and distribution sector.

With a strong foundation, we are planning for growth support clients with their expansion and improvement of transmission and distribution networks and integrating renewable energy sources, aligning with the country's and our corporate energy transition goals.

We are committed to supporting this strategy by appointing a UK Power Client Director to represent the Programme and Project Services part of AtkinsRéalis.

About the role:

Engineering a better future for our planet and our people is a fundamental principle of this role. This person will share our passion for solving problems that matter and be recognised as an industry leader.  It requires a strategic thinker with a robust technical and/or commercial background that provides the foundation for either direct or transferable skills and someone with a growth mindset.  Seeking opportunity in everything we deliver, the relationships we form and our interfaces with our clients will provide a dynamic individual with constant development and challenge.

The key focus will be to develop the account through strategic relationships and strategies to build on our current footprint.  You will report to the Energy Market Director and be part of our senior leadership team.  The role requires a natural ability to collaborate with our existing teams to grow the business.  We offer the flexibility to work from any of our UK Hubs.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • This opportunity is strategically client-focused, and you will be integral to the account's growth.  You will have a large degree of autonomy allowing you to develop and pursue opportunities and develop the sector strategy.
  • A key responsibility will be to build and deliver the market business strategy and to drive work generation. The role's primary objective is to increase market share through strategy development and implementation to enable new key accounts, generating a pipeline of proposals and profitable sales/business opportunities. Whilst previous experience of doing this is desirable the business will provide the necessary support to develop individuals with the right approach and potential.
  • The role will require drawing on an existing professional network or building a network to build on the current reputation in the marketplace and developing new strategic relationships with key client stakeholders. The internal network includes our wider teams across AtkinsRéalis and will require a high degree of interface and relationship building to navigate conflicts of interest and position both businesses to maximise opportunities collectively.
  • The role requires working closely with our Practices to provide visibility of pipeline to inform recruitment strategies, mobilising teams to deliver new work and continuously engaging with clients to ensure service delivery satisfaction.  You will adopt a continuous improvement mindset and sharing of best practice across our markets.
  • Positive, collaborative and engaging behavioural traits are equally critical to the role as is a technical and/or commercial background with relevant or transferable skills.  The role involves meeting and working with senior internal and external stakeholders and with the breadth and depth of our delivery teams. The ability to motivate others for them to perform to their potential and develop to the next level is a key aspect of the role.

Experience:

  • Excellent commercial skills: the ability to apply commercial acumen to understand profitability.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Growing, mentoring and leading teams through key account management skills.
  • Bidding and winning work.
  • Working closely with clients/contractors on major infrastructure projects.
  • Desirable Experience and Skills.
  • Profit and loss accountability.
  • Have an established client base and contacts within the construction industry.
  • Advanced understanding and use of construction contracts (e.g., NEC form of contract).
  • Desirable Academic Qualifications.
  • Relevant degree with sufficient and appropriate consulting experience or equivalent.
