Our talent and capability within the Nuclear Sector is highly recognised, and being involved in a new generation of UK Nuclear Power Stations means that we are now looking for Commercial Assistants within the Industry Sector as part of our Commercial team to support our Clients project teams working on Nuclear New Build programmes.

These positions cover projects in the West Region and will involve being based from our network of offices, client offices and sites.

The Commercial Assistant is responsible, on any contract assigned to them, for providing general commercial support to the Commercial Management Team. The Commercial Assistant is an important role within the Commercial teams with accountability to the Commercial Manager and in accordance with delegated levels of authority.

The Commercial Assistant will be required to work closely and pro-actively with the other team members at all levels and across all the teams within the project to ensure that the requirements of the individual contracts and their impact upon the overall project are successfully delivered.

We are looking for astute and motivated Commercial Assistants to provide support to Commercial teams being responsible and accountable for:

• Assessment and valuation of Contractor’s applications and the processing of payment certificates in accordance with the contractual terms and conditions.
• Undertaking measures from drawings or on site to establish quantities and review payment applications.
• Administration of the Early Warning process.
• Assessment of day work records and accounts.
• Ensuring contractual deliverables are met.
• Reviewing Contractor deliveries including where appropriate attending valuation and progress review meetings.
• Monitoring and reporting on commercial aspects of the contract and/or project flagging issues at the earliest opportunity to the Commercial Manager.
• Provision of advice and information on contract change including proposed scope changes, recommending appropriate action and producing required documentation.
• Preparation of commercial cost reports and progress measurement.
• Compilation of Supplier Performance and Lessons Learnt Reports.
• Undertake final account reviews, settlements and reconciliations to facilitate project close out.
• Administration of commercial management tools including, but not limited to, CEMAR and SAP.
• Working with collaborative behaviours, in a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation.
• Providing commercial support to the Commercial Manager in the effective delivery of the contract

To join us, you will have/be:

• Either educated to degree level, or have relevant work experience with ability to demonstrate a track record of successful contract administration.
• Experience of working as part of a team within a commercial environment.
• Good working knowledge of contracts, basic estimating, valuations, cost reporting and financial modelling.
• Basic understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change control and claims management.
• Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels is essential.

You may be required to travel regularly as part of the role so a full driving licence is required. You may also be required to undertake a client’s competency assessment panel prior to being placed in a role. The UK Government have taken steps to reduce net migration to the UK by limiting the number of overseas workers from outside the EEA coming to the UK for employment. Please note that whilst we are able to consider applications from overseas workers from outside the EEA (who require a Tier 2 (General) visa) we can only employ them if we can provide evidence that there are no other suitable candidates for this vacancy from inside the EEA.
