The position will focus on Managing a team of commissioning engineers, agencies and ensure commissioning activities are implemented in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Formulate plans, allocate resources, oversee development and implementation of processes to ensure compliance with contractual and financial targets.

What will you do?

Main Accountabilities

1. Technical contribution 

  • Defines operating guidelines for teams and ensures implementation.
  • Develops procedures, method statements for Testing & Commissioning.
  • Prepares commissioning plan with the Project Manager.
  • Oversees progress, provides technical guidance and ensures resolutions of technical issues within one’s area of responsibility.
  • Drives team performance to ensure delivery as per the parameters of time, safety and quality set in the contract.
  • Takes lead in failure analysis and trouble shooting

2. Customer and sales

  • Ensures delivery of technical solutions according to customer requirements. Negotiates with customers to define Plant Acceptance Criteria and ensures that the commissioning teams obtain final acceptance certification.
  • Represents commissioning function in project review meetings.

3. Contract management

  • Oversees contractual work within one’s area of responsibility -conducts regular progress reviews, identifies and manages contract risks.

4. Planning and control

  • Ensures that the commissioning team is adequately resourced, developed and equipped to meet business needs.
  • Ensures correct assignment of tasks within the commissioning team, defines relevant performance metrics. Creates work plans and cost estimates for commissioning work.

5. Risk and opportunity management

  • Ensures completion of risk assessments and opportunity assessments (e.g. variation orders and claims) and implementation of resulting actions across projects.

6. Supply chain management

  • Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure correct suppliers, services and equipment are available to support the commissioning execution.

7. Technical leadership and development

  • Facilitates best practice sharing within the commissioning team.

8. Processes and tools

  • Develops and drives continuous improvement activities to improve processes, policies, procedures and effectiveness within one’s area of responsibility.

9. People leadership and development

  • Ensures (with HR support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed.
  • Guides, motivates, coaches and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR polices.

10. Finance and budget

  • Participates in defining the annual budget for area of responsibility and is accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets and constraints

Experience, Education and other Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 15 Years experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in leading a team of commissioning engineers.
  • Should have good experience in commissioning of AC and DC Metro Rail Projects. This requires dealing with commissioning Procedure of all traction equipments and hands on commissioning experience of AC and DC equipment of Metro Rail System.
  • Should have enough experience in testing and commissioning of 750 /1500V DC Switchgears, Stray current management, Rectifier testing, Auxiliary and Rectifier Transformers & GIS and AIS MV Switchgears.
  • Domestic and international for Metro Rail Projects - 750/1500 DC Metro, 25 KV OHE AC Traction & AIS and GIS substations.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in Commissioning of AIS & GIS substations.
  • Should have in depth knowledge latest Control & Protection, Automation systems for Substations. Scada knowledge and interface with Power system equipments of AC and DC Metro System.
  • Should have knowledge on Test protocols, Method Statements, and testing kits for all AIS & GIS Equipment's of substation and AC and DC equipment's of Metro Rail Projects.
  • Should have knowledge on trouble shooting, failure analysis.
  • Sound knowledge on IEC Standards of related area.

Candidates who have experience in commissioning of 1500 V DC OHE Metro Rail Projects will be given preference. Candidates must have good knowledge and experience of handling AC & DC traction equipments at site, well versed with managing commissioning procedures, coordination with customer ITC group and then energization of Traction, Receiving Substation, Passenger/Auxiliary substation, Stinger system and other commissioning requirements of Metro rail projects.
