Job Summary
Requirements
• Holding Team Leader and/or Installation manager IRSE licence and working towards next level
• Knowledge and experience of rail industry and associated rules and regulations
• Mechanical and Electrical knowledge of signalling systems, with appropriate experience
• IOSH Certificated Safety management or equivalent.
• Motivator and leader with strong sense of responsibility.
• To author required working documents for all identified signalling construction project activities in a clear and concise manner.
• Organise, plan and brief as necessary, all staff and sub-contract activities as necessary
• Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
• Flexible working may require weekend and or nights to be worked, dependent on placement of project
• May be required to lodge away from home
• Microsoft computer literate
• Willing and able to drive


Responsibilities
• As Site manager you must ensure that all persons under your control are briefed regarding their work and responsibilities and that and necessary documentation is completed.
• Plan, achieve and supervise installation and alteration work on signalling equipment and complete appropriate inspection to ensure the work meets contract specification, agreed timescales and agreed performance parameters, ensuring work meets required standard especially those relating to control and progress of projects.
• Assist management as required in onsite coordination and support for signalling installation activities.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, sub-contractors and other discipline project management and contractors.
• Report variance between planned and actual performance and agree appropriate action.
• Adhere to the requirements of Atkins rail standards, procedures, processes and Project plans to enable efficient, cost effective and safe completion of contract work.
• Meet all safety requirements. Keep abreast of emerging standards relating to signal installation and assist with their implementation as directed.
• Call on the advise/assistance of Senior Managers, Engineers and others as required.

The Individual
IRSE license accreditation essential, and IOSH Safety management qualification is preferred to carry out site manager duties. Also required is an appropriate level of mechanical and electrical installation experience on signalling equipment. Knowledge and experience of rail industry and associated rules and regulations is essential. A Site manager must have the ability to motivate and communicate effectively in a team environment.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
