Atkins is currently seeking a highly motivated self-starter to join our Richland, WA Energy Team as a Decommissioning Manager.



Job Description:


Provide technical waste management expertise and approaches against which cost and schedule can be developed.


Develop waste management strategies and approaches for US commercial reactor decommissioning projects.


Provide approaches to cost effective waste characterization and classification.


Preparation of waste mass balance flow charts.


Prepare waste management national strategies using international standards and practices.


Develop national strategies for waste management policy, organization and regulatory structure for projects abroad including EU, Middle East, and Asia.


Provide SME input regarding waste facility conceptualization, design and commissioning.


Lead Deactivation, Decontamination & Demolition planning efforts.


Manage decommissioning execution projects in the field.

 



Job Requirements:


Waste management disposition processes, strategies and approaches.


Radioactive/Hazardous disposal systems conceptualization.

 

Regulated waste facility siting and design.


Waste facility startup and commissioning.


Deactivation, Decontamination & Demolition planning.


Decommissioning execution and project management.


Proven track record of managing complex projects with diverse project staff often in offsite locations.


Technical experience in work execution in the areas of waste management, D&D, and landfill design/build.


Strong writing skills.

 

Strong communication and customer service skills.


Travel for assignments in the US and abroad as required for extended periods from 2 to 6 weeks. Up to 50% Travel.

 


Education/Experience:


BS in Engineering.


25+ years waste management experience including characterization, disposition, and strategies.


Experience managing complex nuclear construction and/or decommissioning projects (>$50M).


25+ years experience developing waste management strategies, approaches and project specific waste management plans.


Experience with waste management facility conceptualization, design and commissioning.



Additional Experience Preferred:

Professional Engineering registration or licensure in mechanical, structural, or environmental discipline.


Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
