The Computer Systems Engineering department is responsible for digital instrumentation and control equipment for projects involving control, monitoring and operator displays in the nuclear island for our existing customers and new builds.  We are responsible for digital system design, equipment selection and procurement, and all software activities.

A real-time computer professional with practical cyber security experience is required to work on all cyber security aspects of digital products and projects involving new CANDU nuclear power plant computer control architectures/designs and/or computer retrofits to existing nuclear plants and installations.  Projects may involve new architectures and designs or enhancements to existing systems, and will cover procured programmable solutions, as well as in-house products.

 Depending on the experience of the successful candidate, duties will be carried out under either the general supervision, or the direct oversight, of a Senior Computer Systems Engineer or Technical Lead, and may include the following:

Independent review of cyber classification of OT equipment Perform OT equipment and system cyber vulnerability assessments Propose controls and/or system design modifications for cyber security vulnerabilities, while ensuring data integrity and throughput requirements are met Provide input on client inquiries on OT cyber security issues Execute periodic cyber asset inventory reviews, on behalf of our customers Provide guidance to engineering staff on cyber security issues and activities during internal and/or client project phases (design, construction, commissioning, procurement, maintenance, operations, and training). Collaborate with client and corporate cyber security stakeholders on all OT aspects Design and maintain cyber secure development environments for project work performed on-premises, and provide reviews and guidance to suppliers on secure development requirements and design Prepare requirements and develop/specify tools for test/development systems as needed for the production of safety critical software. Review and perform software engineering tasks including software requirements specification, software design descriptions, coding, verification, testing, and documentation, as they pertain to the OT cyber security . Evaluate computer vendor products and prepare processes and procedures for implementing such products into the computer system design with appropriate controls. Assist in planning activities associated with design, verification and testing of computerized safety, control and monitoring systems from the cyber security perspective. Assist in preparation of OT cyber security work-scopes, design and quality requirements, and design plans for the various stages of computer systems development. Participate in the concept design of safety, control and monitoring computer systems to evaluate and contribute to the system requirements, computer architecture, product/tool technologies with respect to cyber security design practices. Assist in preparation of guides and procedures following international standards for work practices related to OT cyber security in the nuclear industry. Interface with various engineering disciplines, suppliers, and other divisions within the company. Deliver technical presentations accurately and effectively. Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget, and reporting, to meet project goals.
