Digital Innovation Director

Role & Responsibilities:

The Digital Innovation Director will develop strategy and an implementation plan to transform and position SNC/Candu Energy Digital as a recognized leader in its market with respect to the use of digital tools and technologies to dramatically improve efficiency and worker safety and to enable solutions not possible with current methodologies.  This person will lead a multidiscipline team in identifying opportunities within the company’s marketspace where digital solutions could have a significant impact, identifying and deploying within the company the particular digital technologies best suited for our market, training employees across the company in the use of the digital technologies deployed, and collaborating with the customer-facing divisions to help them sell digital technologies and solutions to our customers.  The Digital Innovation Director will work closely with representatives from other SNC-Lavalin businesses as they progress through their own digital transformation, to assure the company is able to benefit from their work and stays aligned with corporate goals.  

This position will report to the  Vice President Plant Support Engineering.  It is anticipated the Digital Innovation Director could work from a remote location / home office for the first year of their employment with evenutal deployment to Mississauga, On, Canada having the greatest preference. 

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Develop and implement a framework that clearly describes what the company digital offering will be and how it addresses the company’s market objectives while also reflecting the goals of the Nuclear Sector digital strategy.  The framework must work within company budgetary limits.

  • Collaborate with company leaders across all parts of the company, including IT, cyber security, operations, security, and executive leadership, to progress digital transformation rapidly and in an integrated manner

  • Work with company leaders to identify demonstration project opportunities.  Scope, define, budget, and implement.  Demonstration projects must resonate with the customer and provide tangible benefits.

  • Determine which digital technologies are most appropriate for the company’s market and deploy. 

  • Develop training for using new digital technologies and deliver to company employees

  • Interface with digital transformation leaders in other parts of SNC-Lavalin and leverage their successes - import technologies and lessons learned, etc.

  • Help market and sell digital solutions to our customers

  • Lead development of branding and marketing for the company’s new digital offerings

  • Identify potential acquisitions that would significantly enhance our digital capabilities

What will you contribute?

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Math

  • The ability to qualify for a Canadian Government Security Clearance is preferred.

  • 10+ years’ experience utilizing advanced digital technologies in the nuclear plant, engineering, or manufacturing sectors. 

  • 5+ years hands-on experience as a user of digital tools

  • 3+ years managing engineers/technical staff.

  • Experience managing to a budget and controlling costs

  • Demonstrated success collaborating across disciplines/departments

  • Demonstrated success managing projects

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Strong communicator and good interpersonal skills

  • Energetic, passionate, high achiever

  • Experience leading a digital transformation effort preferred.

  • Experience working on US federal projects is preferred.

  • Training in Six Sigma and Lean methodologies is preferred.
