The Buildings group in Vancouver provide mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the Transportation (Light Rail, Airports, Road Tunnels), Healthcare, Light Industrial, Municipal, Institutional, and National Defense. Our clients and projects and diverse with upcoming projects in Canada and the United States of America. Our electrical group is dynamic and tight-knit, servicing both local projects and contributing to large remote projects as part of distributed virtual project teams.

We are growing and looking for an Electrical Designer to join our team in Vancouver, BC.

Your role within the team

• Electrical design and drafting, coordination and preparation of project specifications, technical report writing. Interpreting engineering specifications, resolving design and field engineering difficulties and coordinating work schedules. Ensuring design work interfaces with that of other disciplines.
• Contributing to the planning and scheduling of work to achieve prescribed objectives. Contributing to project controls and preparation of progress reports. Providing construction cost estimates.
• Reviewing substitutions in materials. Consulting with other departments, suppliers and contractors to clarify specifications.
• Keeping abreast of new technical developments and estimating their impacts. Technical research related to electrical systems and materials.
• Participating in technical studies and creation of reports.
• Providing construction phase services, e.g. shop drawings review, site inspections, etc.
• Project specific roles to be determined by department and project managers.

The ideal candidate

• University Degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in British Columbia or eligible to be registered. (Registration in other Provinces is an asset).
• Minimum of 4-10 years’ experience working with relevant codes including, BCBC, NBC, CEC, ASHRAE 90.1, relevant CSA Standards (C282, Z32, Z317.5, B44, etc.), ULC-S524 and S537.
• Minimum of 4-10 years’ experience working on complex electrical building systems and designing building services in hospitals, extended care homes and other healthcare related buildings. Track record of lead design responsibility for Power Supply including emergency power distribution per CSA Z32 & CSA 282 and distribution, Lighting, Fire Alarm, Nurse call system, Communications & Security systems
• Computer Skills - MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit.
• Excellent communication, inter-personal skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $57,200 - $78,700 annually (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
