An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, ambitious lighting professional to join the growing Lighting Systems practice at Atkins. The ideal candidate will have experience in a varied range of lighting applications across the highways, transportation and infrastructure sectors.

The successful candidate will be enjoying a successful career in street lighting and be ready to take the next step in their development.
Please note that the salary banding for the role is between £30000 and £35000 depending on experience.

The role will be based in Epsom.


Responsibilities:

Technical

• Responsible for the delivery of technical consultancy support related to exterior lighting projects and businesses as required
• Provide technical consultancy service to clients with regards to solving revenue and sustainability challenges of the lighting network
• Responsible for designing new lighting systems for clients, all solutions need to be sustainable for the clients and must be cost effective and be compliant with the latest market requirements
• Responsible for producing high quality drawings, specifications and bills of quantities to allow the contractor to construct the solution
• Derive operational efficiencies by analysing lighting inventory data and providing a robust technical solution

Stakeholder
• Liaising with customers in a responsive and client focused manner
Management
• Supporting the Senior Engineer and other teams with the development of technical solutions, reports and management of projects.
• Responsible for completion of specifically assigned tasks to time and cost
• Adhering to the company’s Quality, Safety and Environmental procedures

People

• Supporting the development of others.

Requirements:

Essential

Technical

• Appropriate academic qualifications
• Appropriate professional qualifications
• Experience of designing to British electrical and lighting standards (BS7671, BS5489 and BSEN 13201)
• Experience of Highways England or local authority requirements for relevant projects
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office software particularly MS Excel and Word
• Proficient in discipline design software particularly AutoCAD, Lighting Reality, Calculux and electrical cable sizing software.

Management

• Proven ability to deliver high quality work within set timeframes.


Desirable

• Registered with the Highway Electrical Association NHSS8 Scheme for Authorised Personnel
• G39 certificate held
• Experience of onsite inspections of highway lighting or highway electrical installations
• Experience in the use of AMTECH electrical design software
• Experience of the preparation of technical reports
• Experience in a range of technical areas such as:
o LED luminaire appraisals
o Central Management Systems
o Sustainability
• Carbon management techniques
• Driving Licence
• Flexibility for periods working away from normal office location

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
