Atkins Nuclear Solutions US is currently seeking an Environmental Protection Program Coordinator to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN.

Job Description

Serves as Environmental Protection Officer and functions as primary interpretative authority on matters related to the environmental protection program and assists Project staff to identify and correct environmental protection problems.

Develops and manages environmental compliance and permitting program including oversight and coordination of subcontractor permitting preparation activities and various reports, correspondence, and other documentation related to environmental compliance activities.

Assists in identification and/or development of environmental compliance training to support activities and coordinates environmental management system assessment and environmental compliance audit activities.

Works with Waste Management to identify and implement pollution prevention opportunities within their respective organizations.

Supports processing and construction activities as matrixed technical support staff, providing the Facility manager environmental expertise and counsel on those activities.

Develops or assists designated staff in developing, written procedures to implement compliance with environmental regulations and procedures and policies related to environmental protection and operational controls for activities related to significant environmental aspects.

Performs assessments of Environmental Management Program and its implementation, including operations compliance and develops documents, and performs evaluations and investigations.

Develops environmental protections performance indicators and tracks recycling and reuse quantities to satisfy reporting requirements and to support Environmental Management System objectives.

Serves as Environmental Management System (EMS) Representative responsible for:

Ensuring that EMS requirements are established and implemented

Reporting on EMS performance and recommended improvements (EMS Management Review)

Maintaining the list of equipment required to be calibrated for appropriate implementation of the EMS and verifying that calibrations are performed.

Coordinating activities related to identification and control of significant environmental aspects including updating aspects, impacts, objectives, targets, and environmental management plans.

Maintaining the EMS Records Retention Matrix and maintaining the EMS in accordance with applicable requirements and standards.





Job Requirements

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Strong communication, verbal and written skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems by gathering information, pertinent facts and situational analysis to arrive at sound conclusions and take appropriate actions.


Education / Experience / Certifications

Baccalaureate in engineering, safety, or related science or equivalent work experience.

Minimum of 2 years job related experience, of which 1 year nuclear experience.

Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified locations, information and matter.

US citizenship required for Atkins Global Isotek Systems project positions
