About the role:

An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term appointment (6 months) within the UK&I division for a finance business partner to be embedded alongside the UK project team focusing on the financial governance and control of the UK delivery elements of M&M Simandou project.

The Simandou project is a multi-country delivery project pulling resources from across the AtkinsRéalis businesses and as such provides exposure to multiple levels of internal transaction and staff secondment arrangements.

As the UKI FBP you will work alongside the Canadian finance team to establish and maintain relevant financial procedures and governance to aide prompt commercial approval and settlement of project finances.  As an integral part of the UK project team you will assist in aligning the financial reporting of all UK elements and ensuring prompt and accurate reporting and interface with CoE billing.

Key Accountabilities:

  • The FBP will be a key member of the UK Project Team, providing evidence based insights to the leadership in pursuit of performance goals of the project.
  • Interface between UK finance and Canadian finance to ensure consistency of approach and application of commercial governance.
  • Interfacing with the Canadian finance team to ensure project reporting is prompt and accurate and represents a true refection of the overall project financial status.
  • Working with project team to understand and interpret the project financial performance and leading indicators.
  • Work with the Canadian finance team to understand the profitability of the project and its impact on UK business underlying breakevens and margin generation.
  • Provide financial support to the project technical team as required.
  • Assist the UK businesses in preparation of internal trading budgets and forecasts related to the project.
  • Ad hoc projects and support to the Finance Director.
  • Involvement with AtkinsRéalis financial improvement initiatives.

Professional & Technical skills:

  • Experience working in the accounting function of a sizeable international company.
  • Technically proficient in preparing and reviewing management accounts, budget and forecasts.
  • Excellent people management and inter-personal skills; and comfortable in dealing with senior colleagues.
  • Experience in working for a consultancy business, especially an engineering consultancy, would be a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of the following would be an advantage: JD Edwards; Oracle EBS; Hyperion HFM; PBCS.
  • Excellent Excel spreadsheet skills and exposure to Power BI.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise own workload.
  • Strong sense of ownership, drive and ability to deliver results.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Good team player with positive attitude.
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills with an ability to analyze information and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recognised accounting qualification – ACCA/CA/CIMA.
  • Bachelor's degree – Preferably B.Com / Master’s degree.
