In the infrastructure and transportation sectors we have a rapidly expanding workload and an exciting portfolio of roads, rail, water and building development projects. As such we are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to take a leading role in our strong geotechnical team.

We currently have an outstanding opportunity for experienced Geotechnical Engineers in our rapidly expanding team in Bangalore GTC (Global Technology Centre). An ideal opportunity for individuals looking to develop their international experience by working with a multidiscipline team of Geotechnical Engineers providing a comprehensive design service to our clients.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • A strong academic background with degree in Civil engineering and master’s degree or PhD in a relevant subject with 8-10 years relevant design experience.
  • Preparing geotechnical calculations, specifications (e.g. GI, etc.), reports (e.g. Desk Studies, GIR, GDR etc.) and drawings in line with project and legislation requirements.
  • Design of embedded retaining walls, foundations, and earthworks.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficient with geotechnical analysis software like PLAXIS 2D/3D, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, WALLAP or FREW, PDISP and REPUTE.
  • Preparing geotechnical calculations, specifications (e.g. GI, etc.), reports (e.g. Desk Studies, GIR, GDR etc.) and drawings in line with project and legislation requirements.
  • Leading their own technical and professional development, supported by the team’s more experienced members.
  • A high level of numeracy and attention to details with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • Analytical skills to assess complex problems and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Knowledge in international standards like BS codes, AASHTO, CIRIA, Eurocodes, Canadian foundation engineering handbook is preferred.
  • Ground Investigation Works and Site inspection experience is preferred.
  • With minimum 5-7 years of relevant design experience.
  • Analytical skills to assess complex problems and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Design of embedded retaining walls, foundations, and earthworks.
  • Experience of soil structure interaction work and numerical analysis would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment
  • Some experience with tunnelling design is preferred.
  • Producing high quality technical work including geotechnical analysis and design.
  • To assist senior staff on projects and guide junior team members.
  • A willingness to travel on short term assignments both within India and overseas.
  • A high level of numeracy and attention to details with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • Coordinate with multi discipline teams and clients.

  • Ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build rapport with customers.
  • Excellent written and spoken English within a business environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with international clients.
  • Experience of soil structure interaction work and numerical analysis would be an advantage.
  • Some experience with tunnelling design is preferred.
  • Working towards obtaining chartership.
  • Awareness of health and safety (CDM 2015), commercial and contractual risks is preferred.
  • Flexibility for cross skilling in another sub discipline of Civil Engineering is expected.
