Graduate Structural Engineer, Esbjerg.

The Role

Within our Engineering and Consulting (E&C) UK & Europe business, the Esbjerg operation is an important part of the link into the Danish offshore sector and clients, and an important part of growth and diversification plans within mainland Europe.  The team is currently a multi-discipline team supporting mainly Oil & Gas clients in engineering consultancy and modifications & upgrades, but with intent to grow into other Energy sectors, especially Offshore Wind.  The Esbjerg operation also acts as a conduit for specialist work that is carried out by other parts of the Energy business, and draws in resources from this wider business to execute work locally.
As we make progress with our Energy mission to make a difference by improving lives through safer, cleaner, smarter energy we are seeking the next generation of engineers for our Structural team in an enthusiastic Graduate Structural engineer. As part of our structural team there will be great opportunities to develop technical skills and capabilities in the offshore industries and to be involved in delivering successful projects to our clients where we are striving to meet the constantly evolving needs of the energy sector.
Within this role, you will focus on delivering technical structural engineering projects. As part of the team there will be opportunity to assist with winning work, engaging with clients and developing relationships.  Our multidisciplinary team carries out many projects that involve interaction across disciplines and there are great opportunities to interact with the rest of the E&C business in the UK and across the globe. The E&C business in the UK (and across the globe) comprises vast experience in structural engineering where we have been involved with the design, assessment and modification of over 1000 oil and gas installations around the world and are the operator’s ‘go to’ company for difficult challenges from life extension to innovative new design. As part of this role you will have the ability to work with and learn from these resources as well as your local team.


The Person

You will have the drive to learn and develop skill sets in Structural Engineering. You will have good verbal and written communication skills.  You will have an analytical mind and be confident in applying mathematical models. You will be pro-active and oriented to problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will be excited to be involved in: 

• Team-work, within multi-discipline international projects, liaising with other engineers and draftsmen
• Design and re-assessment of steel offshore structures to relevant codes and standards
• Linear and non-linear structural analyses using advanced software, such as:
o Fatigue, Ultimate and Accidental Limit States analyses
o Application of environmental and topsides loading
o Installation studies
• Structural calculations with the aid of Mathcad or Excel sheets
• Preparation of reports and documentation

The following is mandatory:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Naval Engineering.

The following is also desirable:

• Experience in using DNV-SESAM and USFOS or equivalent structural software.
