The Atkins Construction Management Group is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter to join our Denver, CO office as a Highway/Bridge Construction Inspector. The project for this position will be based in Grand Junction, Colorado.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE
Under supervision, observes the work of contractors involved in the construction of projects.
NOTE: Incumbents do not supervise any contractor activities and are not responsible for job site safety.

JOB DUTIES
  • Performs non-manual field work in support of company's construction management operations. 
  • Applies conventional field observation practices in diversified construction projects with relatively few highly complex features.
  • Researches and interprets contract requirements to determine whether construction work is performed in substantial compliance with plans, specifications and special provisions. Advises internal project manager and/or owner of any failures or delays.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field and two years related experience. With Associate's degree, ten years of related experience. Without a degree, twelve years related experience is required.
SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Good math, communications, computers and organizational skills. 
  • Experience on Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) projects or projects in accordance with CDOT specifications desired.
  • Experience working with Bridge rehabilitation preferred
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • CDOT construction certifications desired.
  • Certification as a certified welding inspector a plus
