We are hiring! SNC-Lavalin is seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join our Salt Lake City, UT office.

The successful applicant must be able to work interchangeably in a team setting, and single-handedly, and will be expected to liaise with professional staff including engineers, subcontractors and clients. The Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for providing design agent services and technical support to work for future M&M projects, offers, studies in Utah jurisdiction.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Perform engineering and electrical systems studies, design, failure investigations and evaluation, technical evaluations, cost estimates, and options analysis for new equipment or modifications to existing equipment and systems.

  • Prepare engineering specifications.

  • Prepare engineering estimates.

  • Ensuring design work interfaces will with that of other disciplines.

  • Electrical systems analysis, drafting and design.

  • Recommending changes in plans and specifying estimated costs.

  • Prepare, review and assess electrical equipment requisitions, datasheets, bid evaluations, vendor documentation review work.

  • Consulting with other departments, suppliers and contractors to clarify specifications.

What will you contribute?

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated Mining and Metallurgy work experience in engineering within the last 15 years.

  • Experience in a design office setting.

  • Project management experience.

  • Some knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation software and ability to view electrical design drawings, in addition to a proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to understand 3D designs prepared in Auto Plant, Smart plant 3D.

  • A working knowledge of electrical standards NEC, NEMA, IEC would be ideal

  • Licensed in the State of Utah (P.E.).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, planning and organizing abilities with excellent interpersonal skills.

  • A strong team player with the ability to work without supervision.

  • Familiarity with company’s established guidelines, procedures and practices as well as other departments, suppliers and contractors.

Export Control:

This position must meet Export Control Compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
