About us

SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies. With over 18,000 staff worldwide, Atkins employees have endless opportunities to learn and develop their careers within a company that is regularly in the Times “Best Big Companies to Work For”.

The Role

If you’re an enthusiastic, highly-motivated individual, with a passion for helping others access and exploit the wealth of information available to them, then you may well be the person we’re looking for.

This role is part of a small centre of excellence focused on win-work and bidding, supporting technical and business consulting staff to maximise their use of our valuable (and under-exploited) library of project and bid resources. The work has already started, but there is potential for the right person to make a huge difference.

You would join a busy high-performing team, working with colleagues from across the division to win work with our clients in the Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology sectors.

This role would concentrate on organising, sharing and creating bid-related material to increase the efficiency of future win work activity.

The Responsibilities
• Gathering, organising and publicising valuable knowledge – Acting as curator of our growing information store, and implementing plans in collaboration with others in the business to maximise our exploitation of knowledge.
• Programme Management – Owning the bidding improvement programme on behalf of the Bid Support Team and the Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology (ADS&T) division, planning, scheduling and leading activity across multiple workstreams - including case study libraries, CV databases and answer stores. This means keeping a sharp focus on driving things to completion.
• SharePoint Design – Optimising and growing the existing Bidding Hub, utilising SharePoint functionality to make sure the site is easily navigable, and resources are as accessible as possible.
• Communications Planning – Creating and executing a communications plan to ensure that the wider division is aware of the resources available and knows how to engage with the ongoing initiatives.
• Process Improvement – Implementing processes to ensure that knowledge-sharing is “business as usual” for ADS&T.
• Content Review – Reviewing legacy material and content submitted by colleagues, ensuring that it is accurate and complements existing material before adding it to the Bidding Hub.
• Content Creation – Identifying gaps in the Bidding Hub through gathering user feedback and reviewing recent client questions and requirements, and proactively developing additional resources to cover these.
• Coaching and Induction – Introducing people to the Bidding Hub, encouraging them to use the resources, champion knowledge-sharing with their colleagues and contribute material in future.

The Requirements
Essential:
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organised, strong attention to detail and able to prioritise effectively.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience of improving business processes.
• Experience of managing large volumes of information.

Desirable:
• Experience of designing, creating and optimising Office 365 SharePoint sites.
• Knowledge of bidding and related best practice e.g. Shipley methodology.
• Experience in a knowledge or information management role.
• Experience of leading continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience of planning and delivering business communications.
• Experience of project managing other people – defining tasks and managing to completion.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
If applying to this role please do not make reference to (in conversation) or include in your application or CV, details of any current or previously held security clearance.
