Due to business growth, we are looking for an exceptional Managing Quantity Surveyor or Associate Director to join our Southampton office, which has a varied portfolio of clients and projects, with a strong reputation for delivering high quality cost management services.

This presents a fantastic opportunity for an individual with strong quantity surveying experience from a consultancy background to join a world-leading player in its field on high profile projects. The individual would be a senior member of staff and play a key role in driving forward our QS services.

Reporting to the responsible Regional Director you will contribute to the business plan for the team. You will manage and plan resources, innovate and foster a collaborative, professional and positive working environment and contribute to driving the performance of the business forward. This role will also involve business development activity and interaction with other offices in the region and the wider Faithful+Gould business, stimulating profitable growth for the team.

The office’s current client base covers a variety of different sectors including research and development, defence, education and transport.
 

This role has excellent prospects for an individual who has a strong ambition to progress and enjoys working collaboratively within a vibrant team. As well as technical competence, we are looking for someone with the ability to think laterally, who possesses first class communication skills, has strong commercial awareness, who will provide a first-class service to our Clients.




We are looking for a skilled and experienced quantity surveyor to:

•Manage commercial aspects of commissions and/or projects including governance, fee management activities, together with internal job costings and resource requirements.
•Prepare fee proposals and bid submissions under guidance of senior colleagues.
•Manage the client relationship and service delivery on a project basis in conjunction with other colleagues
•Take the lead, setting the pace, and monitoring all work executed, at all stages to ensure that an accurate, professional and quality service is delivered to clients
•Set and maintain excellent service quality standards and a culture of continuous improvement.
•Play a key role in generating repeat business and new business opportunities/market opportunities
•Apply the principles of quality assurance and environmental management in compliance with the organisation's policies

Requirements:

•Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (or equivalent)
•Good experience in preparing estimates
•Significant experience in preparing tender and contract documentation, for works under the JCT and NEC3 suite of contracts
•Experience of both single and two stage tender procedures
•Experience of successfully delivering both new build and refurbishment projects
•Experience of successfully interfacing with clients at senior level
•Good communication skills with ability to prepare and edit written reports
•Good presentation skills with ability to advise senior representatives of client organisations on key issues
•A practical understanding of construction risk and commercial management
•A sound technical quantity surveying knowledge demonstrating established experience and ability
•Experience of managing project commercial teams and supporting other colleagues
•Able to demonstrate effective and efficient post-contract administration of projects
•Knowledge and understanding of the key commercial issues
