Atkins Infrastructure division are looking to appoint an Mid-Weight Interior designer into our Epsom office to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and deliver a full suite of Interior Design services within the Architects and Interior Design department.  We offer a friendly and dynamic working environment, with the opportunity to work on extremely varied and interesting work with a number of high profile public and private sector clients.

The Atkins Interior & Spatial Design Team are looking to take on a new member of their team to support their increasing business. The activities below represent an overview of the position of a Designer and should not be seen as a prescriptive list of activities. A flexible approach is vital, together with initiative in order to contribute to the team objectives. The ideal candidate should be capable of handling multiple projects across sectors and sometimes lead the design through various stages of delivery.

Responsibilities

  • You will have exceptional design skills with the ability to sketch by hand
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, InDesign, SketchUp, Excel and Photoshop
  • A good working knowledge of Revit would be beneficial, but training can be provided if necessary
  • A proven track record of detailing interiors projects with experience in one or more of the commercial, hospitality and education sectors with successful design firms
  • Have the ability to design to relevant British Standards and building regulations for interior fit-out jobs
  • Able to liaise with subcontractor and suppliers
  • Prepare space planning, test fitting and schematic design schemes for interior design projects
  • Prepare design development presentations and supporting material
  • Contribute to the furniture selection, prepare furniture RFPs, prepare final furniture specification documents
  • Prepare finishes and material boards for client presentations and prepare final finish specification documents and plans
  • Are motivated to work on their own as well as part of the Interior Design team and work collaboratively with the wider Atkins multidiscipline teams
  • Prepare tender documentation package including drawings, schedules and specifications
  • Prepare construction documentation package including drawings, schedules and specifications. 
  • Interest in current design trends and philosophies from workplace environment solutions to colour theory
  • Support the design team ensuring all deadlines are met in accordance with project programme
  • Contribute and in some instances, deliver client presentations on design schemes
  • Represent Atkins design team and promote our services to Client bodies and all other consultants and associated bodies at industry events.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in interior design or equivalent.
  • Ability to contribute to the growth of Atkins by identifying and developing opportunities with new and existing clients.
  • To work and where required lead teams particularly on larger commissions
  • Good team working skills and ability to communicate well
  • A full driving license and prepared to travel as required

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.  If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
