We have an exciting opportunity for a NEC Supervisor to join the Project Management team in Cambridgeshire. This new role is required to assist with the delivery of a significant programme of projects across an existing client framework. The majority of projects will be within the education sector (new schools and substantial extensions) but the scope will also include the healthcare and wider community infrastructure sectors.

The candidate will be expected to undertake the role of Supervisor as defined under the NEC contract, but consideration will be given to individuals who can demonstrate relevant experience as a Clerk of Works, with the potential for further training to be provided.

The Supervisor will have a key role at all stages of the project lifecycle including:

  • Undertaking high level technical reviews of emerging design proposals during the pre-contract phase.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of works post-contract.
  • Managing the defects identification and rectification process during the post-construction stage.

The Supervisor will have a key role in the successful delivery of a range of high-profile projects and will be required to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of project partners. This role represents an excellent opportunity for the right person to join an existing, successful, and motivated team and play a pivotal role in our continued growth.

The position will be ‘home based’ but access will be available to our office in Girton as required. The position can be via ‘Agency / Contract’ or as a permanent appointment.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Supervisor as required under the NEC suite of contracts.
  • Undertake high level technical review of design proposals at outline design (RIBA 3) and detailed design stages (RIBA 4).
  • Perform regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of works and compliance with the Scope.
  • Provide weekly written reports to the Project Manager and attend monthly project progress meetings during the construction phase.
  • Proactively liaise with the contractor to identify potential issues and monitor programme impacts.
  • Perform pre-completion snagging, witness testing and review commissioning paperwork.
  • Perform post-completion defect inspections as required under the contract and record and monitor defects to conclusion.
  • Ensure the contractor performs their responsibilities under the contract.

Requirements:

  • CSCS card Holder.
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking the NEC Supervisor role (or similar) at all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivery of education sector construction projects or similar.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with contractors/designers within a design and build procurement model.
  • Formal NEC Supervisor accreditation desirable.
  • Membership of Institute of Clerk of Works an advantage.
  • Competent in the use of IT systems and applications.
  • Full driving licence and own transport (mileage will be paid for business use).
