Atkins Nuclear is currently seeking a Nuclear Engineer- Safety Basis Analyst to join the nuclear team in Albuquerque, NM.

JOB DUTIES
This position shall provide onsite support to the Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) ES&H Planning Department. Some remote work may be allowed where practicable. The position shall complete the following tasks, at the direction of the Sandia Delegated Representative (SDR).
• Perform Primary Hazard Screening (PHS) reviews for those associated with nuclear material and perform field assessments (walkdowns), if necessary.
• Perform independent USQ reviews in accordance with GN470080.
• Support the Independent Review Team (IRT) by reviewing and providing comments on the ACRRF, AHCF, and SPRF annual updates.
• Assist TA-V with the Implementation Validation Review (IVR) process associated with annual updates.
• Support the PHS and eUSQ software by reporting, tracking, responding to, and addressing issues and interfacing with software programmers as required.
• Develop, review, maintain, and/or provide comments on changes to internal department policies, department owned corporate policies, the ES&H Manual, and other corporate policies.
• Complete the department qualification cards for NFSB Engineer, Conduct of Operations SME, and Readiness Review SME as requested.
• Review other safety basis documentation as required, such as hazard analyses and safety assessments.
• Provide general support for TA-V committees/operations as requested.
• Attend and support EFCOG meetings as requested.
• Attend and support department and TA-V meetings as requested.

DELIVERABLES
Deliverables will be dependent on the task assigned and could be any of the following:
• Written reports
• Email responses
• Completed qual cards
• Concurred sign offs in the PHS

REQUIREMENTS
• Security Clearance Requirement: DOE "Q" security clearance (some exceptions may apply)
• Work will require travel to SNL/NM facilities on Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB). Occasional travel to SNL/CA or other remote sites may be required.
