Atkins Transportation Division covers all aspects of multidisciplinary design and management from inception to options appraisal through to detailed scheme design and delivery support

Atkins’ Transportation is our centre of excellence for the design of highway infrastructure projects. We are currently working on a number of professional services consultancy frameworks, including the Collaborative Delivery Framework (CDF) for Highways England, soon to be replaced by Routes to Market. We pride ourselves on constantly striving to improve the way we do things, even if this means challenging “business as usual”. We put the client at the heart of what we do and we are looking for an individual who has the passion to help us drive this culture forward.

We are seeking a competent Performance Manager who will support and work closely with our project teams to drive performance. The successful applicant will ensure our project teams fulfil the requirements of CPF (Collaborative Performance Framework) reporting, and will use the metrics to drive performance by identifying strengths and weaknesses. On CDF and forthcoming Routes to Market supplier CPF scores can link to the ability to win future work and supplier financial pain/gain incentivisation. Consequently, Atkins is seeking a high calibre applicant who will support teams working on these Major Projects in order to optimise our performance.

Requirements
Essential Criteria

• Experience in the analysis and evaluation of both quantitative and qualitative data.
• Strong written skills as well as verbal skills, and the ability to present information in a clear and professional manner.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• The ability to work under pressure to challenging deadlines and commitment to meeting client requirements.
• Experience of driving timely delivery from others.

Desirable Criteria (but not essential)
• Knowledge and experience of performance monitoring and in working with others to drive performance improvement.
• Experience of working in an engineering design environment.
• Experience of engaging with Highways England or similar client.


Responsibilities
• Develops an in-depth understanding and familiarity of the performance metrics and any changes to them implemented by the client.
• Develops appropriate guidance and conveys this to our teams, including administering and maintaining a Sharepoint site.
• Engages with project teams to guide them on gathering and presenting the necessary data/ evidence to complete the performance toolkit and to meet the submission deadlines stipulated by the client.
• Evaluates data/ evidence provided by the teams in order to ensure it is robust and meets the requirements of the toolkit metrics. Challenges input where appropriate.
• Closely monitors and tracks scores, analyses trends, produces performance reports and shares best practice to project teams, Programme and Framework Directors and leadership.
• Works with project teams and Clients, where appropriate, to tackle blockers to information gathering.
• Engages with project managers and teams to tackle weak areas, and shares best practice where performance is strong.
• Engages with Client Supplier Performance team where appropriate to assist with the development and refinement of metrics.

The successful applicant will possess the following qualities:

• Has an enquiring mind and questioning approach to analysis.
• Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts in detail whilst still retaining perspective and focus on the wider picture.
• Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function.
• Is not afraid to address and challenge blockers to information or to tackle challenges such as weak performance areas, working in collaboration with project managers and delivery partners to improve scores and performance.
• Can deliver accurate and robust reports orally and written, in an objective and persuasive manner.
• Is used to delivering in a time pressured environment to meet client deadlines, and driving timely delivery from others.
• Can demonstrate initiative and resilience.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
