The Team

Within our  Oil & gas business, we have been involved with the design, assessment and modification of over 1000 oil and gas installations around the world and are the operator’s ‘go to’ company for difficult challenges from life extension to innovative new designs. You will become part of a growing team of over 2000 engineers working in the global engineering and consulting sector.

Based at our Aberdeen office, you’ll be in a motivated team of 20 process engineers and take a lead role in a variety of projects, responsible for the analysis, assessment, optioneering and design of process systems, ranging from single discipline studies to large multi-discipline projects. Working closely with our clients, you’ll be consulting with them to develop a full understanding of their project requirements, delivering cost effective and innovative solutions. 

Principal Process Engineer working in our Aberdeen office, will be focused on supplying consultancy and project support to our Oil and Gas clients.  The team is predominately focused on concept and operations support particularly for Brownfield assets.

The individual 
Will be able to work with our clients to understand the operational problems or projects requirements, develop winning proposals and lead our engineers to deliver real added value outcomes for our clients.


The Role

We are looking for a Principal Process Engineer with strong conceptual thinking for predominately early stages of process engineering activities (i.e. appraise, select, troubleshooting) as well as a good understanding of operations and troubleshooting, able to provide practical solutions to our clients’ challenges. 

As a senior member of the team, you will lead technical delivery of work packages and develop the capability of a team of process engineers. You will also present your work to clients through reports and presentations.

You’ll be responsible for the delivery of high quality deliverables including reports, presentations and calculation packages, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards and internal procedures. You’ll be able to lead process simulations and optimization studies for selected projects and prepare Process Flow Schemes with mass balances and equipment sizes. You’ll serve as the Focal Point for assigned projects, managing the contact with the client, ensuring effective communication between all stakeholders, and monitoring project quality, manhour and costs to ensure effective project delivery. You will also contribute to preparation of pre-qualification responses, proposals and tenders and be actively involved in business development.

The Person

With excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, you will be able to build relationships effectively and assist in winning work from new and existing clients.

Comfortable at leading tasks, you are keen to support, mentor and develop the capability of the team. You are also a motivator and take personal responsibility in achieving the best from the team to ensure client satisfaction. You are comfortable and adaptable to working in new and changing environments. You have good attention to detail and are able to make judgements under pressure.

You have a strong background in Oil & Gas process engineering with the following qualifications and most of the experience:
 

  • Engineering degree, honours or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or similar
  • Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Chemical Engineers or equivalent;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Background in the oil and gas industry, with some of this in a multi-discipline design environment
  • Experience in feasibility, concept selection and front end engineering studies with particular experience in identification and screening of development concepts 
  • Experience providing technical direction and supervision of junior engineers in the preparation of project deliverables
  • Project engineering skills to ensure studies and projects are delivered within agreed budgets and schedules
  • Understanding of relevant safety and environmental industry regulations. Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (American Petroleum Institute, National Association of Corrosion Engineers, Institute of Petroleum, British Standards etc.).
