Job Summary

A project accountant role has been created to sit within the newly created project monitoring team of the F+G Middle East business.

The role is based in Dubai but covers F+G’s business across the region. These include UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar.

Essential Criteria

  • Strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Good understanding of a project lifecycle and the different measures of financial performance.
  • Good communications skills including a very good level of English both written and verbal.
  • Time management – able to prioritize, plan ahead and achieve objectives within set timescales.
  • Highly analytical, able to manipulate and interpret complex data from multiple sources.

Responsibilities:

  • In liaison with the project team, ensure that the estimate and cost control baseline is established at the outset of the project and is in accordance with the GAM approved bid position.
  • Review project costs/ spend on a periodic basis and investigate variances to baseline/forecast.
  • Generate robust bottom up forecasts to complete. Flag any early indicators of issues with costs and forecasts.
  • Highlight to the head of project monitoring team any deviation from baseline or any trends that suggest this could occur.
  • Issue accruals to finance on a monthly basis to ensure all actuals costs are accounted for accurately.
  • Reconcile subconsultant invoices and contracts/POs to the project forecast.
  • Maintain revenue reconciliations.
  • Through the project review and forecasting process, identify any unpriced or unapproved changes and provide support to the Working at Risk approval process.
  • Contribute in creating a strong control environment and ensuring project compliance with Group finance policies.
  • Check that invoices are being issued to clients on time and escalate any delays.
  • Suggest and implement process and tool improvements.
  • Act as key point of contact with both internal and external auditors when required.
  • Close liaison with the Middle East shared services function.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support projects across the region.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working within a multi-cultural environment.
  • Part / Fully Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA/CPA or other recognised Accounting qualification.
  • Has Finance experience working on a major project or project accounting experience with a finance team department.
  • Has relevant industry experience in Construction, Engineering or a relevant Consultancy.
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards, Hyperion and other finance specific IT systems and databases.
  • Exposure to various countries tax and statutory requirements within the Middle East.
