Project Controls Specialist with heavy Schedule Focus will play a key role in developing and standardizing scheduling governance as part of a company-wide governance library. This role requires expertise in Primavera P6, scheduling methodologies, and project controls best practices. The specialist will be responsible for creating scheduling procedures, templates, and guidelines to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance across projects. 

Location - Port Elgin, ON

Your role within the team:

• Governance & Standardization:

  • Develop and document scheduling standards, procedures, and best practices. 

  • Create templates for project schedules, schedule updates, and reporting. 

  • Ensure alignment with company-wide project governance policies. 

  • Define scheduling KPIs and performance measurement criteria. 

• Scheduling & Planning:

  • Provide guidance on Primavera P6 setup, structure, and usage. 

  • Establish rules for Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and activity coding. 

  • Define baselining and schedule change management procedures. 

  • Develop guidelines for resource loading and leveling in schedules. 

• Reporting & Compliance:

  • Standardize schedule reporting formats and dashboards. 

  • Ensure schedules meet industry standards (e.g., CPM scheduling, DCMA 14-Point Assessment). 

  • Define risk-based schedule contingency guidelines. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align schedule governance with cost and document controls. 

• Training & Support:

  • Provide training and support to project teams on scheduling best practices. 

  • Develop training materials and user guides for scheduling governance. 

  • Act as a subject matter expert for scheduling governance queries.

The ideal candidate:

• University Degree or College Diploma.

• 3 to 5 years of experience in project scheduling and project controls. 

• Experience in project governance, reporting, and standardization. 

• Experience working in large-scale projects or corporate governance environments is a plus. 

• Proficiency in Primavera P6 and scheduling methodologies (CPM, EVM, etc.). 

• Strong understanding of cost and risk integration with scheduling. 

• Excellent documentation and technical writing skills. 

• Familiarity with P6 or similar project controls software. 

• Knowledge of earned value management (EVM). 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to work in a cross-functional team.
