Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Melbourne, FL office as a Project Manager/ Senior Civil Engineer   
 
Major Function/Role:
 
  • Under direction, applies technical expertise and project management experience to manage project teams on conventional and unconventional projects. Also performs the basic project functions of production coordination, planning, organizing, directing, controlling, financial management and marketing assistance. Functions as a mentor to technical professionals to assist in their training and development.
  • Applies full competency in conventional engineering work and broad knowledge of precedents in specialty area. On design assignments, understands how to clearly convey the design intent to engineering drawings and specifications. On assignments involving engineering investigations and planning work, has a firm grasp of the
    fundamentals of engineering processes and their application to operating systems.
  • On projects involving engineering services related to construction activities, has developed a thorough understanding of construction methods and the
    manner in which engineering drawings and specifications are translated into the constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.
     
 
Job Duties:
  • Able to take on new or existing projects and complete the design and permitting with the support of the design team.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the client, client manager and the design team to provide complete and coordinated construction drawings and specifications. Provide cost estimates.
  • Meet schedules and attend meetings with clients to coordinate project development and jurisdictional authorities to confirm permitting requirements.
  • Assist client manger with proposals, staffing and production budgets.
  • Assist and provide direction to the design team working on civil engineering design projects including storm water management and storm sewer systems, land development, site layout, potable water and sanitary sewer system improvements, and roadway improvements.
  • Review the work of junior engineers assisting with design and
    production.
  • Provide engineering support during the construction phase including RFI's, shop drawing review, construction progress reports and project certifications.
  • Opportunities may exist for assisting the coastal engineering and airport planning groups depending on project staffing requirements.
  • Eligible to receive project management training.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • This level may be achieved eight years' experience in project production and technical professional activities, two of these working as a Sr. Technical Professional.

 

Special Skills:

·         Must be able to use ICPR and AutoCAD 3D a plus. Familiar with WaterCAD, Storm CAD and PONDS a plus.

·         Permitting experience through jurisdictional agencies including FDEP, FDOT, FL water management districts, county and local agencies is required.

·         Strong interpersonal skills; good public speaking ability; strong project financial management skills; knowledge of production support systems and personal computer proficiency.

 

Professional Certifications:

·         Florida P.E. License is required

·         ASCE, FES or other technical engineering society is preferred.
