QSSE Director, APAC

 

Our vision for QSSE is to become a natural part of the SNC Lavalin Atkins business. This means proactively partner with staff, clients, our supply chain and senior members in Asia pacific  (Hong Kong, China, South East Asia and Australia) throughout the organization, to ensure QSSE is fully integrated into the decision-making process by;

 

  • Develop a high performing team of subject matter experts.

  • Provide guidance & developmental support to delivery teams to achieve compliance through exemplar behaviours.

  • Lead the integration of the function with new ways of working and behaving.

  • Maintain compliance with statutory & effective management systems requirements (ISO 9001 (2015), ISO 14001 (2015) and OHSAS 18001), whilst creating a culture of continuous improvement (currently working towards to ISO 45001 (2018)).

  • Represent the SNC-Lavalin Atkins business at industry forums, contribute to improvement programmes & to be the human face of the function within our wider business.

     

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide leadership in QSSE (and H&S in particular) to Joint Ventures that SNC Lavalin is a party to, ensuring clarity of QSSE responsibilities, adoption of good practice and effective discharge of legal responsibilities.
  • Working with the APAC senior members as QSSE business partner to develop a clear strategic vision for QSSE across the APAC region.
  • Work with the MDs and APAC senior members  to transform the business to deliver world class “safety leadership” culture.
  • Work with the business leaders to transform and drive a continuous improvement and learning culture.
  • Mentor and positively challenge senior members on their QSSE leadership and accountability.
  • Be a visible role model and advocate for QSSE.
  • Provide the interface on QSSE with group QSSE team.
  • Develop and oversee the “Director Engagement Tour” programme for the region.
  • Understand, communicate and implement changes to QSSE industrial standards.
  • Develop and maintain QSSE improvement plans, based on the risk profile of the region, to ensure the APAC senior members  are reviewing the effectiveness and efficiency of QSSE system.
  • Work with technical expertise within the region in terms of technical processes, feeding back relevant information to the Group Technical Team.  
  • Actively engage and attend region regular senior management meetings and other senior team meetings to report and update QSSE performance.
  • Support strategic bid reviews and to ensure QSSE will be implemented on projects delivery.

 Requirements 


  • At least 10 year experiences in QSSE from engineering consultant or contractor field;
  • Experience in manage small team to drive and deliver the QSSE function;
  • Degree holder in engineering or health and safety;
  • Professional charter or certification in QSSE is preferred ;
  • Experience in internal and external audit;
  • Crisis  and Control Self-assessment management experiences is an advantage;
  • Ability to demonstrable experience of leading a QSSE function, either within the Hong Kong, China, South East Asia or Australia , ideally with from engineering consultant or contractor background.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading Health & Safety in a construction operations environment.
  • Ability to influence at regional level, engage and positively challenge behaviours, including good presentation skills and ‘keep it simple’ approach.
  • Commercial, risk and business acumen demonstrated in a senior QSSE role
  • Strong influencing and communications skills, political awareness and high levels of strategic thinking and a depth of intellectual capability
  • Actively lead on QSSE across the region
  • Excellent technical understanding and knowledge of QSSE
  • Certificate in environmental management, accident / incident investigation training, security certificate if preferable.
