Quality Assurance & Project Technical Support Representative

How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the individual will provide QA representation and technical support at a Project Level, for SNC-Lavalin clients and will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Key outputs -
- Supports QA efforts and initiatives for assigned SNC-Lavalin projects.
- Provides technical support on behalf of the Client at a project level.
- High quality work product in line with the SNC-Lavalin ethics.
- Representing the Client by, participating in production, quality, and design review meetings, developing project related presentations, KPIs and report development.
- Monitoring and Auditing of QA Processes.
- Maintain professional confidentiality relating to client information.
- Assure contract compliance on behalf of the Client.
Essential duties -
- Attend project production meetings, taking notes and communicating effectively verbally and in writing to the client project manager.
- Represent the client at the supplier’s site and at subcontractor’s shops when necessary.
- Validate and approve deliverables, parts and samples provided by the supplier.
- Verify the integrity and quality of the supplier’s work and if necessary, reject all non-conforming work.
- Approve the repair and the inspection plans prepared by the supplier.
- Oversee tests and approve test reports produced by the supplier.
- Verify and approve the supplier’s Quality Assurance and Safety plans.
- Verify and approve the preliminary and final versions of procedures written by the supplier for installation, repairs, inspections, and testing.
- In conjunction with the supplier, perform First Article inspections on different systems and/or components and approve the supplier’s inspection reports.
- In conjunction with the supplier, perform inspections at critical points of the work process and approve the supplier’s inspection reports.
- Check, approve and if necessary, propose changes to the first prototype cars.
- Maintaining up-to-date lists of drawings and manuals produced by the supplier and of those provided by the client.
- On behalf of the Client, ensure supplier parts inventory list pertaining to the project is maintained.
- Coordinate between the client and the supplier the delivery of parts provided by the client.
- Verify and approve all articles, parts, materials, or equipment proposed by the supplier as substitutes to those prescribed in the technical specifications.
- Revise obsolete material and decide with the client project manager on their disposition.
- Record and communicate a periodic review of the work performed by the supplier, which includes completed work, work in progress, upcoming work, quality of completed work, additional work, inspections and/or tests, budget, issues and problems.
- Record and communicate any critical comments on the work and changes made to the cars.
- Report that the work is on-schedule.
- Monitor changes and additional work proposed by the supplier and communicate these to the client project manager for his approval.
- Ensure that all remedial work has been performed.
- Monitor optional items requested by the client.
- Report any anomalies as soon as possible to the client project manager. These anomalies may be of an administrative, financial, or technical nature.
- Verify and approve the car history books produced by the supplier.
What will you contribute?
- 10+years’ experience in the operation, manufacturing, rebuilding or quality control of rail vehicles with preferably 5+ years directly in quality control/assurance.
- Ability to ensure the client needs are understood and responded to in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Seeks out and acts upon feedback from clients.
- Communicates effectively; seeks to understand and delivers key messages to individuals and groups.
- Applies active listening skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required.
Safety and work environment:
- Work locations will include client’s offices, and rail manufacturer facilities.
- Safety is a top priority and compliance with specific SNC-Lavalin, Client, Facility owner or Provincial regulations is required.
- Appropriate actions must be taken to minimize risk in all work environments.
- Compliance with all aspects of the SNC-Lavalin ethics and certification is required.
- Compliance with all SNC-Lavalin, Client, Facility Owner and Provincial requirements regardingCOVID-19 is required.
Mobility:
- Must possess a valid Provincial driver’s licence.
- Must be able to travel up to75% of each month.
