SNC-Lavalin Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Nuclear Group in Oak Ridge, TN as a RADCON Engineer.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Serves as one of the back-ups to the Radiological Control (RADCON) Manager, as required.
  • Participates in critiques/investigations involving radiological issues as requested and maintains awareness of radiological operations.
  • Supports the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Program by assisting with development of ALARA plans; assisting with/performing RADCON evaluations and investigations; and performing/reviewing ALARA
  • Reviews and Evaluations of Radiological Work Permits (RWPs). Supports/performs ALARA Pre- and Post-Job reviews.
  • Supports processing and construction activities as matrixed technical support staff providing Management RADCON expertise and counsels on those activities. Reviews Work Packages, procedures, and other documents to ensure compliance with RADCON requirements and performs audits and assessments of RADCON program and its implementation.
  • Reviews and approves (as required) Operations Evolution Plans (OEPs) as part of the Data Review Committee.
  • Assists in development and revision of radiological training materials (e.g., Radiological Worker II (RWII), Radiological Control Technician (RCT), Operations Technician Radiological Review, etc.).
  • Supports job walkdowns and JHEs, assists or develops RAD documents, and assists with RAD evaluations and investigations.
  • Supports operations through review and preparation of dose and shielding analyses.
  • Assists with determination of and research of instrumentation needed for RADCON and develops maintenance and calibration procedures.
  • Prepares, reviews, and revises RADCON Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Provides technical assistance to operations staff, RADCON Manager, Senior RADCON Engineer, and RCTs.
  • Assists in the development of survey plans for demolition activities, and review demolition, design and construction documents\
  • Supports the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions and the Isotek Safety Culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • Baccalaureate in engineering or related science.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ job-related experience in the nuclear field (DOE, NRC, military, etc).
  • Demonstrated experience working in high-contamination and high-radiation areas.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, verbal and written skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with 10 CFR 835.
