Rail Operations Specialist

Atkins Transportation is a business of 3500 staff in the UK, providing consultancy and design services to the major infrastructure owners and operators in the UK as well as working with national, regional and local government.

Role: 
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual with the following attributes: 
• Proven track record of delivery within frontline operations in the UK rail industry (infrastructure or train operator) in disciplines such as Signalling, Control, Traincrew management or station management 
• Experience in the development and use of UK Rail performance management systems from either the infrastructure provider or train operator perspective 
• An effective understanding of UK rail performance measures and metrics. 
• Experience within train planning or the ability to demonstrate a knowledge of timetable development and the relevant timetable development processes. 
• The ability to engage confidently with technical specialists within the rail industry (e.g. the Department for Transport, Network Rail, Train Operating Companies, etc) 
• Demonstrate an ability to take ownership for key work streams and/or overall project delivery. 
• Client-focused, with a clear understanding of how to produce technical outputs for a range of audiences. 
• Good organisational and time-management skills to produce personal and team-based outputs within time and budget constraints. 
• Excellent analytical, numeracy and problem solving skills. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Enthusiasm, energy and flexibility to work across a number of projects within a fast-paced environment.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
