Rail Trainer/Assesor

Responsibilities:

  • Submit all completed safety training and competence assessment details for the update of records and certification.
  • Assist as requested in the development of Atkins/SNC Lavalin training and assessment policies.
  • Co-operate with performance appraisals to develop your potential and identify opportunities for training and development.
  • To be involved in your own development, with records supporting regular self-reflection on practice and continual professional development (CPD).
  • Compile and maintain appropriate information, records and statistics to assist in the measurement of performance against target.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Formal Trainer/Assessor qualification as appropriate.
  • Sound knowledge of Railway Safety and Rules and Regulations appropriate to railway training, assessment and certification.
  • Strong sense of commitment and able to communicate at all levels.
  • Good organisational and communication (written and oral) skills.

Qualification Requirements in line with RTAS Rules:

Assured Trainers shall demonstrate their competence as a trainer by holding one of these qualifications:

  • Preparing to Train in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Training and Development.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Learning and Development.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Direct Training.
  • CIPD Certificate in Training Practice.
  • City & Guilds Further and Adult Education Certificate -C&G 7301/7306.
  • Employment National Training Organisation ‘L’ Units L9, L10, L11 and L13.
  • Training Delivery for Adult Learners, e.g. C&G 7331, Method of Instruction, European, Armed Forces or Civil Service Trainer training.

Assured Assessors shall demonstrate their competence as an Assessor by holding one of these qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Training and Development.
  • NVQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (Units 1 and 2).
  • D32: Assess Candidate Performance.
  • D33: Assess Candidate Using Different Sources of Evidence.
  • A1 Award: Assessing Candidates Using a Range of Methods.
  • Assessor qualifications under TAQA, e.g. Level 3 Certificate in Assessing.
  • Vocational Achievement (CAVA).
  • Having passed the Network Rail Assessor training.

Equivalent qualifications can be accepted and should be closely aligned to the assessments that will be delivered as an Assured Assessor. Equivalent qualifications are subject to review of relevance to Assured Assessing before being accepted.
