Our Nuclear business has been operating for over four decades. today we’re leading the renaissance in nuclear power. We have operations based in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and North America, and are fully engaged on the development of the next generation of nuclear power stations. Alongside our new build expertise, we maintain existing nuclear fleet and decommission those coming to the end of their life. As a result of continued growth in our Westlakes, Cumbria office, we are looking to recruit experienced Senior civil/structural engineers with a proven track record in the production of engineering/technical deliverables on multidiscipline design projects associated with industrial facilities. Experience in the Nuclear Industry would be preferable, but is not essential.

The successful candidate shall be required to lead technical projects with a team of engineers involved in civil/structural engineering and related disciplines. They will inherit an exciting portfolio of work and future opportunities to develop and expand that team to deliver on projects helping to clean up the UK’s ever expanding catalogue of nuclear facilities. You’ll be helping us to design complex new schemes, assure the longevity and integrity of existing infrastructure and deliver innovative consultancy advice to core clients, critical to the success of the global energy market.

Responsibilities
• Project definition and the assistance in the preparation of fee proposals
• Leading preparation of conceptual and scheme designs
• Management of engineers undertaking detailed design solutions in accordance with the relevant British Standards/International Codes
• Checking and preparation of technical specifications
• Liaison with clients to ensure technical deliverables are delivered on time to the client requirements
• Checking of the detailed design deliverables and engineering drawings
• Supporting management of workload and resources of the team



Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
• Degree qualified, and either a Chartered civil or Structural engineer.
• A good level of previous engineering design experience is essential. This should include analysis of structures and detail design of elements in all major materials
• Skilled at collaborative working, have good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively
• Customer focused and a high level of relationship management skills
• Proven capability technically delivering Civil and Structural engineering projects
• A good track record in key client management
• You will be driven to meet targets, and have a high level of commercial awareness and will have demonstrated the ability to work within budget and programme
• Experience of supervising teams of professional staff including developing/mentoring junior engineers
• Candidates should have strong technical background, including first principles analysis and knowledge and use of relevant UK and international codes and standards
• Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build and develop relationships internally and externally
• Design of concrete, steel and masonry structures using British codes and standards is essential and knowledge of European and US codes is desirable

Desirable
• A high level of relevant experience as a Senior Civil and Structural Engineer
• Experience of highly regulated UK industries would be beneficial plus an understanding of relevant legislative standards
• Design and analysis of structures under dynamic loading e.g. seismic, impact, blast is desirable
• Working in multi-disciplinary teams on high value construction projects
• Good standard of written English and the ability to write clear technical reports.
• Innovative and open to ideas.
• Flexible in approach, willing to travel to work on client sites
• Nuclear background
