Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server)*

Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of this role is to deliver DBA as a Service within Technical Services providing DBA expertise, and 24x7 support to all Services leveraging database technologies.

Key Deliverables/Responsibilities

The Senior DBA is responsible for the following activities:

·         Perform operational DBA duties. These will include: installations, database upgrades, patching, environment cloning, implementing backup/recovery and monitoring procedures, capacity planning, and performance tuning and site failover/switchover.

·         Design, architect, and build Microsoft SQL databases from determining business requirements to planning and deploying test and production systems.

·         Interface with development, Unified Communications teams to resolve problems with application/database systems.

• Providing 24/7/365 operations in a business critical environment.
• Working with global teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Application development, Unified communication, and Service Desk
• Manage multiple applications or service areas and projects simultaneously to ensure on-time response, quality delivery and resolutions.
• Support continual service improvement through optimization of systems and processes for existing and new applications and services.

Experience Required

·         5-8 years related experience

·         Significant knowledge of Microsoft SQL; this will be your passion and you will be required to get under the bonnet of a live system, coming up with innovative solutions.

Competencies specific for this role:

• University degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and/or 8 years equivalent work experience.
• Understanding of ITIL, Service Management.
• Possess the necessary formal presentation skills, and excellent work ethic.
• Experience and understanding of risk management and risk mitigation activities.
