Atkins are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our East Anglia Infrastructure business, based at our Colchester office.
 
The Building Services team cover a full spectrum of environmental, mechanical and electrical engineering design and consultancy service.  The successful candidate will work alongside like-minded engineers and a multi disciplined team to help innovate and inspire the teams and clients.

Requirements
 
BEng or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related subject with a sufficient level of post qualification experience
Chartered Engineer or working towards with Membership of IET or CIBSE
Experience working in a design consultancy – experience of working within a contractor environment is additionally welcome
High level of technical skill in Electrical Building Services is essential
Financial awareness useful but ability to develop this skill is required
Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential
Capable of accurate work under pressure and able to work on several projects simultaneously
Able to understand and express technical concepts in written and verbal language.
Good level of computer literacy in Windows, Amtech, Relux, Dialux NES and Microsoft packages - an understanding of AutoCAD/Revit is beneficial
A good understanding IES would be highly advantageous
Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations and CIBSE guidelines
A natural first class communicator both verbal and written
Highly motivated and a self-starter
 
 
 
Responsibilities
 
Reporting to one of our experienced Principal Engineers you will be setting out on the journey to further your electrical design engineering experience working towards incorporated and chartered engineer status.
Proficient in the design of electrical building services
Preparation of design calculations on industry standard software
Preparation of technical specifications
Preparing and drafting of drawings by yourself or by our in-house CAD team
Preparing reports and contract documents
Undertake design preparation and calculations
Undertaking work on site such as building services system inspections, site surveys and contract supervision
Communicating with suppliers, client meetings, contractors, the public and other engineers within Atkins
Take an active role in supervising and training junior engineers, leading building projects of various sizes, taking an active role in project leadership and client facing activity.
Able to understand and express technical concepts in written and verbal language
Able to innovate new solutions as well as applying existing solutions to problems
Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way
Analysing problems and developing innovative solutions and advising technicians on detailing
Compliance with Health and Safety, environmental and business procedures
Provide technical support to the M&E Team
Maintaining records and archives to company standards
Manage project fee budgets
Must be eligible for security clearance
