The role of Senior GIS Consultant is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right person to gain experience implementing GIS solutions across disciplines and through all parts of a projects life cycle. Reporting to the overall Geospatial team manager this specific role is to become part of a high achieving GIS project team delivering industry leading innovative geospatial solutions to a large multi-disciplinary project team. The successful candidate will work out of our central Glasgow office full time. This position would suit someone who has experience of liaising with senior project staff and with the ability to see the full potential of geospatial solutions to a multi-disciplinary project environment.



Requirements

Essential

• Either a degree qualification in GIS or a related field and demonstrable work experience, or extensive experience using GIS software
• Experience of setting up data management practices and principles on large infrastructure projects
• Track record of working with new technology and producing innovative new Geospatial solutions.
• Experience of working in a high-achieving project team
• Proven experience of delivering to deadlines within pressurised environments
• Experience of identifying GIS requirements within a project environment
• Able to explain the benefits of GIS to potential clients and generate business leads
• Experience using ArcGIS 10x and its extensions
• Excellent presentation and communication skills in written and spoken English
• An understanding of how GIS fits within a BIM project environment
• Able to work on your own and with the wider GIS team based in multiple locations around the UK.

Desirable

• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary consultancy
• Experience with working and controlling a large number of evolving datasets
• Hands on experience of using CAD derived data within a GIS environments
• Able to contribute GIS text to formal bids
• Experience of providing information management advice or solutions to multi-disciplinary projects
• Experience of providing GIS support to the following disciplines: Planning, Environment, Energy, Contaminated Land and Water

Responsibilities

• Senior Geospatial team member on a large infrastructure project
• Work within a BIM project environment
• Represent the UK Geospatial team and providing GIS solutions to internal Atkins disciplines and external clients
• Key contact for GIS data capture, cartography, analysis and modelling within Atkins
• Sell the benefits of GIS in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Provide GIS support on projects (both internal to Atkins and externally direct with clients) to various disciplines from around Atkins
• Identify and develop business opportunities by providing client focused GIS solutions
• Manage own productivity

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview
