Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Landscape Design Group in our Orlando, FL office as a Senior Landscape Architect.


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Under general direction, serves as a recognized specialist in landscape architecture throughout the Company, providing advice on the resolution of major technical problems of marked importance to the organization. Provides technical expertise on programs and projects with substantial fees, developing standards for diverse activities.


JOB DUTIES

  • Analyzes projects and solves major technical problems or makes cost-effective recommendations.
  • Develops landscape architectural standards and guidelines.
  • Determines program or project objectives and requirements.
  • Provides consultation and advice.
  • Markets company services.
  • Has heavy responsibility for success of program or project, conformance to budget and quality control.
  • Conducts technical training workshops and serves as mentor to less experienced landscape architects and other technical professionals.
  • Routinely manages projects.
  • Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture; MLA or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Landscape Architects with fifteen years' experience with Bachelor's degree or fourteen years' experience with Master's degree; typical incumbent has fifteen to twenty years' experience.
  • Experiences working with Resorts and Municipalities is highly desired.


SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Persuasive ability plus strong technical writing and communication skills are expected at this level, proven through technical presentations, technical papers and/or participation in technical committees; may be eligible for project management training.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS

  • Registration as a Licensed Landscape Architect is required; National CLARB registration desired.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must demonstrate experience in project management, client relations and project team collaboration.
  • Strong freehand illustration and rendering skills
  • Must have a good understanding of Florida’s landscape materials and specifications
  • Experienced and proficient designer with expertise in master planned communities, urban design, and construction documentation including grading and construction detailing
  • Must demonstrate excellent writing and oral presentation skills
  • Must be proficient in Auto CAD and Adobe Suite; Sketch Up are highly desired
