Senior Lighting Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious lighting professional to join the growing Lighting practice at Atkins. The ideal candidate will have some experience of lighting applications across the highways, transportation or infrastructure sectors.

The successful candidate will be enjoying a successful career in lighting and be ready to take the next step in their development.

Responsibilities:

Technical
•To support the delivery of technical consultancy solutions related to exterior lighting projects and businesses as required
Stakeholder
•Liaising with customers in a responsive and client focused manner
Management
•Supporting the lighting team and other discipline teams with the development of technical solutions.
•Responsible for completion of specifically assigned tasks to time and cost.
•Adhering to the company’s Quality, Security, Safety and Environmental procedures.
People
•Engaging with other team members, colleagues and clients in a professional manner


Requirements:

Essential
Technical

• Appropriate academic qualifications e.g. ONC / HNC Electrical Engineering
• Experience of designing to British electrical and lighting standards (BS7671, BS5489 and BSEN 13201)
• Experience of Highways England or local authority requirements for relevant projects
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office software particularly MS Excel and Word
• Proficient in discipline design software particularly AutoCAD, Lighting Reality and electrical cable sizing software.

Management

• Proven ability to deliver high quality work within set timeframes.

Desirable

• Registered with the Engineering Council as an Eng Tech
• Registered with the Highway Electrical Association NHSS8 Scheme for Authorised Personnel
• CSCS card held
• Experience of onsite inspections of highway lighting or highway electrical installations
• Experience in the use of AMTECH or other electrical design software
• Experience of the preparation of technical reports
• Experience in a range of technical areas such as:
o LED luminaire appraisals
o Central Management Systems
o Sustainability
o Carbon management techniques
• Driving Licence
• Flexibility for periods of working away from normal office location

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
