This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

We are seeking a Rotating Plant Engineer who thrives on making a strong personal contribution and who is driven to help make the organisation a little better every day. You want to deliver – for the client, for the team and for yourself.

We need a personable, experienced engineer who wants to help us ensure we deliver to exceed expectations. You’ll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices, and always seeking to be forward thinking and going the extra mile to help us maintain our excellent performance.

Does this sound like you? In which case, we’d love you to apply for this role.

The role

Working for our Energy business, supporting our power generation sector, you will be part of a body of engineering professionals who have expertise and experience starting at apprenticeship all the way up to Chief Engineer level. You must be confident to engage at a senior technical level and undertake technical work individually, or as part of a project team and to take responsibility for managing delivery to agreed timescales. Delivery will include technical work and report writing, whilst working with and presenting your work to clients. You will want to work closely with colleagues in our Energy business to maximise the market opportunity.

As the role will involve travel to many of our client sites, the home office location of the role can be flexible to one of our main Energy offices throughout the UK.

The person

You’ll be happy to work with customers and with teams who deliver to their customers and you’ll be adaptable and able to cope with uncertainty. As soon as you’re presented with a problem, you are focused on how to resolve it, whatever it might be.

You don’t just tackle these things alone. You enjoy discussing how to meet the client’s requirements with your colleagues. And overall, you get satisfaction from building relationships, with clients and with colleagues. You enjoy getting to know people, and working out how you can have a positive impact on them – whether delivering something for a client, or helping to win more work.

In addition to having excellent communication and problem solving skills you will be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential requirements

Rotating plant operation problems, failure modes, mitigation strategies and repair techniques
Feasibility studies, cost benefit analysis
Design reviews, technical reports and performance specifications;
Plant thermal and fluid modelling experience (e.g. proficient in GTPro or similar);

Preparing power generation FEED and/or EPC and/or EPCm contracts;
Up-to-date knowledge of OEM/Supplier’s capabilities, including design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and optimisation and experience of witness / FAT and plant performance testing.
Appreciation of Electricity Generation Market reward mechanisms, including value of flexible operation and Capacity Payments

The team

Our team has a key role to play in the UK & Europe Energy business, covering nuclear, renewable and conventional systems from concept feasibility through to design delivery. With relationships across the energy market, we bring technical know-how from across the design lifecycle to help solve our client’s problems. We see integrated design services as a growth area and with our links into the Atkins organisation for e.g. Infrastructure design, we form part of a wider Energy business which gives us unrivalled access to significant players in all parts of the industry offering diversity and opportunity.
