Atkins seeking an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Mid-Atlantic Public & Private group as a Senior Project Manager in our Charlotte, NC office, with a general background in all aspects of public works and transportation. Candidate must possess the skills and relationships to further develop business in the region.


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE:

The selected candidate will lead and support multi-discipline design teams for a variety of project types with a strategic focus on transportation projects with public works clients. In addition, client will assist in leadership roles for state DOT projects. The selected candidate will have demonstrated success in managing large multi-discipline projects and strong leadership and people/client skills. Candidate will also have experience serving as a senior consultant, leading, managing and providing guidance of project analyses, preparing plans, and developing innovative solutions to project challenges, as well as developing and executing strategic business development plans in the region.
 

JOB DUTIES:

Provide industry-leading knowledge and prominence to Atkins’ projects and initiatives.

Support clients to formulate innovative solutions to infrastructure/site development issues.

Provide QA/QC functions and expert advice for complex projects.

Identify and support business development activities and proposal development.

Function as a project lead and mentor to project teams.
Prepare project work plans, develop project scopes, sche
dules, and budgets.

Direct project team compliance with contract terms, schedule, budget and quality objectives.

Monitor schedules, financial status of projects and quality control on projects.

Prepare contract documents.

 



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This position requires a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience.
 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Thorough understanding of local design standards and criteria related to roadways, sanitary sewers, water distribution systems, storm drain facilities, site grading, stormwater management, earthwork, erosion & sediment control, environmental compliance, ADA compliance, and pavement markings & signage.

Credentials demonstrating ability to advance the technical prominence of the company and develop technical competence of staff.

Demonstrated experience in supporting business development activities and defining new markets and services, strong existing client relationships a plus.

Experience supervising multi-discipline teams with staff of varying experience.

Experience interfacing with clients and proposing innovative solutions.
 
Familiarity with a wide variety of project and client types.
 

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS:

Civil P.E. license in NC is required. SC PE license, and PMP certification are preferred.
 
General competencies expected of all Professionals and Managers are as follows: Client Service, Commitment, Communication, Innovation & Continuous Improvement, Professionalism, Quality, and Teamwork.

Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; ability to visit project sites if necessary. Job also requires ability to assemble and analyze data.
