Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our team as an Senior Traffic/ITS Analyst in our Tallahassee office.

Under general direction, provides leadership and technical expertise in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to the development, evaluation and deployment of transportation planning, engineering and operational needs and problems, the coordination of ITS project activities, and the preparation of plans and documents. Leads ITS project teams. Applies broad knowledge of leading-edge information and communication technologies, planning, and engineering processes to the planning, development, design, and operation of intelligent transportation systems. Expected to carry out job functions within project-oriented multidisciplinary teams of ITS professionals and be able to support direct interaction with clients within the context of project progress meetings, design reviews, and project production and deployment.


Job Duties:

- Assignments require the investigation of a large number of variables and the development of novel solutions to ITS projects. Duties usually include the following:
- Develops guidelines for the application of state-of-art ITS technologies to programs and projects.
- Develops ITS design concepts and solutions to ITS problems, including plans and criteria for new projects.
- Recommends changes or improvements to plans and programs.
- Evaluates alternative approaches, technology capabilities, previous experience with ITS deployments, cost benefits, and client/regulatory agency specifications, and recommends cost-effective solutions.
- Develops and agrees on outline deliverables. Delivers presentations, communicates concepts and deliverables to clients, and conducts quality control checks.
- May manage ITS efforts in one or various concurrent projects.
- Supervises ITS team members.
- May perform other such duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.



Qualifications:

Detailed understanding of the practical design and deployment of a wide range of information and communication technologies, including fiber-optic communication design, video systems engineering, traveler information, electronic payment, transit, or traffic control systems. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access is required. Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Outlook or equivalent e-mail program is desired. Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills essential, including ability to present concepts verbally and negotiate with clients. Proven ability to lead analyst teams successfully. Completion of the ITS Training and Project Management Programs within the first 24 months of employment is highly desirable.


Education and Experience:

B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or an ITS-related subject such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Transportation Planning, Economics, Business, Law, or Information Technology, plus ten years relevant experience providing exposure to information and communication technologies, including fiber optic communication design, video systems engineering, traveler information, electronic payment, or traffic control systems. ITS-related Master's degree can substitute for one year of experience.
