Senior Vetting Advisor - 12 Months Contract

The work of the HR People Services Team is key to supporting the business, line managers and employees in all things HR. This team provides the HR face to the business; HR Services need to be delivered with passion and commitment providing a consistently great customer experience and delivering services optimally whilst meeting all policy and compliance requirements.

The People Services Team also includes responsibility for Security Vetting – ensuring personnel are vetted to the correct level for their role.

Reporting to the Vetting Manager, the Senior Vetting Advisor will work both collaboratively and independently to ensure a high level of customer service and effective delivery of the vetting service.

The Senior Vetting Advisor will be responsible for effective line management of a team of Vetting Advisors and Administrators and will be expected to lead on specific deliverables, be the champion for ensuring processes are implemented effectively, team members are fully trained, and continuous improvements are driven forward.

What will you do?

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in vetting, providing advice and guidance to the business, resolving complex case management issues, and ensuring that the vetting service meets business requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with current statutory and legislative requirements ensuring successful audits are undertaken.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service delivery is maintained by the team.
  • Create and improve robust internal processes, ensuring future compliance.
    Identify areas of improvement and support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the service delivery from the People Hub team in Bangalore is managed and maintained at a high standard.
  • Develop and manage relationships with Third Party Providers, ensuring compliance with operational requirements and service delivery is maintained to a high standard.
  • Develop and manage relationships with clients and other vetting agencies.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with all stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Provide line management to a team of up to 8 direct reports.
  • Lead, motivate, develop team members to enable a high performing team.
  • Create and implement new team members inductions, ensuring a comprehensive training plan is in place.
  • Manage and analyse the team workload with effective reporting and resource planning to meet business requirements.
  • Support the Vetting Manager with reporting and analysis requirements for senior leadership.

Experience required:

  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Experience of the end-to-end security vetting process and associated governing policies, including MOD and ONR clearances.
  • Excellent customer service and experience of working with third-party organisations to deliver requisite services.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, to prioritise and work to deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of organisation.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to flex communication style to suit audience.
  • Confidence and credibility to influence at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Proactive in sharing knowledge and lessons learned from day to day, cyclical and project activities.
  • Ability to identify where to challenge as appropriate and escalate as required.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvements working collaboratively with the improvements team and wider HR community.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating a pro-active ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Able to work confidentially with sensitive company and personal information.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance to colleagues.
  • Ability to apply objective questioning and analytical skills.

Desirable Criteria:

Has worked with offshore service delivery in an HRSS capacity.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.  If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
