Software Assurance Engineer - Bristol or Aldershot

The Opportunity

The Atkins Software Assurance team specialises in consultancy, verification and testing of software and programmable hardware used in safety-critical digital systems. Due to increased demand from clients across many industry sectors including Nuclear Power, Rail, Defence, Automotive and Aerospace we are looking to recruit a Software Engineer whose responsibilities will include:

• Verification and Validation of safety-related software systems
• Development of specialist software test and static analysis Tools
• Provision of consultancy to clients on software processes

This is an opportunity to join a growing, dynamic team with a strong pipeline of future opportunities. This is a technical role that would suit an engineer with previous experience of working with software or programmable hardware systems, and is now looking a fresh challenge. Appropriate training and mentoring will be provided.

The Requirements


The following experience is preferred. Note that the role does not require experience in all of these skills.

• Experience of development and test of real-time, embedded and control systems.
• Experience of programming in .NET and Visual Studio
• Experience of working with software-based systems in safety or mission critical industries
• Experience of programmable hardware (FPGAs or ASICs) and Hardware Description Languages such as Verilog and VHDL
• Experience of high level programming languages such as C and Ada
• Experience of compilers and assembler languages
• Experience of static and formal software analysis techniques and tools (such as MALPAS, SPARK, Polyspace, etc.)
• Minimum first degree in a numerical discipline

Security
