We are part of a consortium including Atkins and Egis Road Operations UK – creating Connect Plus Services, a unique partnership with a collective strength in highways asset care from finance, through to design, build, maintenance as well as day to day operation.


As part of our 30-year remit to manage and improve the capital’s orbital motorway network, we deliver major improvement projects, such widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries, helping to maximise the use of the network and deliver more reliable journeys. We also manage the Dartford River crossing, and operate and maintain 440 kilometres of motorway providing our customer and road user with a world-class highway service.


We are seeking a Technical Training Manager to join our L & D Team based out of any of our main depots with responsibility for delivery across the entire network.


Purpose of the role:

  •     To manage and support coordination of all technical training and development activities
  •     To lead the technical training team and drive operational excellence
  •      To drive improvement opportunities for the provisioning of technical training including optimisation of CPS technology based learning and other LMS platforms
  •       To work with senior stakeholders to ensure that the workforce have the technical competence in line with HSE, Highways Agency, Construction industry and parent company requirements

  •       To develop accurate management information against KPI’s and budgetary requirements


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Ensuring compliance with all technical training requirements across CPS
  • Providing accurate MI for managers against agreed KPI’s
  • Management of the training budget maximising efficiencies
  • Responsible for the safe keeping and maintenance of a range of training aids, tools, documents, plant equipment, etc.
  • Develop and deliver a digital learning strategy for the organisation
  • Utilise, where appropriate, parent company resources for internal/external training
  • Management of service levels with external training resources
  • Live the Connect Plus Services Values 
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm
  • Support the delivery of the business’ Sustainability activities 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE


  • Extensive experience in training requirements for Construction/Highways/Utilities sector experience
  • Strategic planning ability to link development requirements to business performance.
  • A track record in delivering training projects and initiatives in a complex environment
  • Experience of Training databases and developing interfaces with other IT platforms 
  • Record of leading training interventions with proven ROI against key business metrics
  • Ability to adapt to constant changing demands positively and effectively.
  • Commercial orientation and budget / financial knowledge
  • Inspirational leader of remote teams
  • Internal/external stakeholder and client management
  • Excellent communication skills, with the interpersonal skills to interact and influence at all levels, be passionate about developing people and be driven to achieve success
  • Track record / knowledge of fleet and plant training

 

The      DESIRABLE QUALITIES;

·         Experience of introduction and development of digital development solutions

·         Procurement of training services 

·         Professional vocational qualification – level 5 upward

·         Lean /Six Sigma qualification
