How will you contribute to the team?

  • Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk.
  • Participates in the hiring process that ensures positions are staffed with personnel who possess the appropriate education and
  • experience and who can be successful in meeting training and qualification requirements that ensure personnel are appropriately
  • indoctrinated and trained to the necessary competence level for performing their duties.
  • Manages the activities, professional development and performance of personnel performing work within their respective department.
  • Responsible for managing technical support functions for the Processing activities associated with the thorium extraction from U-233 processing and then purification of that thorium.
  • Responsible for managing the technical support aspects of thorium extraction activities associated with the dissolution and downblending of U-233 materials in Building 2026.
  • Provides technical support for the development of training associated with chemical processing and hot cell operations.
  • Provides technical direction and support for safety basis input of processing operations.
  • Manages team of operators responsible for extracting and purifying the thorium.
  • Develops policies, plans, and procedures to implement requirements in the thorium extraction and purification operations.
  • Provides timely responses to regulatory assessments and audits.
  • Assesses organizational performance.
  • Manage specification, procurement, and testing of processing equipment to support thorium extraction activities associated with dissolution and downblending of U-233 material in Building 2026
  • Manages the interface with the thorium customer.
  • Supports the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions and the Isotek Safety Culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with emphasis in chemistry.
  • Previous experience in operating and managing isotope processing activities; minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Previous experience in startup of new radiochemical process activities.
  • Previous experience in working in a DOE contractor organization; minimum of 15 years’ experience.
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary groups.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
  • US citizenship required for Atkins Global Isotek Systems project positions
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent presentation and organization skills.
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization and with the customer and regulators.
  • Shall be able to describe and interpret the essential principles, requirements, relationships and importance of applicable DOE Orders and Standards as they apply to Operational disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a multi-million-dollar budget adhering and commensurate with the baseline cost and schedule.
